Lisa Schlottmann  (TpT Seller) re: Songs of the 50's and 60's for Teaching Literature
I'm curious how you did the copyright for the youtube links? I have several activities that require songs but was unsure I could actually do them legally. I can't seem to find anything about the legalities/copyright laws of using youtube links/songs and their printed words. I would assume if we give the full song title and its recognition it would be okay but I have been told by others that it may not be legal so then I was nervous. Thanks for any help in this and I love your ideas - music is such a great way to teach!

Allyson Buie  (TpT Seller) re: Proper Etiquette During the Victorian Era
Any suggestions on comparing female characters in Victorian Literature? I want to explain the roles of women, marriage, and property entail and then have them compare two, perhaps the Dashwoods and the Bennetts or Jane Eyre vs. Emma. What do you think?

Love it! You may also want to incorporate the theme "Stand by Your Man", honestly I've done such things has having this song playing when they walk into class observing the bazaar looks pertaining to the "hick" music. Then move on to an orientation on women, marriage, and property, but to add that extra zing (I love those zings) I'd start a conversation as to how far would you go for your significant other? At this point further identifying the roles of woman as often being enslaved to that one person they love and how far they'd go.
ie: Jane Eyre and Rochester
Margret and Mr. Thorton (North and South) Then... and I say then.... Just when they are feeling sorry for these poor woman I'd have to throw in, "But, if we look at these situations, aren't these actual feminist tendencies? The fact that maybe, just maybe they had a deep desire to control their man?" "I'm sure no one here has ever tried to control their man and get them to do what they want." The giggles are worth it.
