Best for high school or an extended unit on archetypes and symbols. It is a little overwhelming for middle school. Based on the examples and definition of archetype used, I would definitely include discussing symbols as well. The overall presentation is ok, but the background color and picture combos aren't ideal.

Overall, I like using The Truman Show to show common archetypes. I would have liked to see the archetypes discussed first before delving in the questions. But, overall a nice tie-in to this discussion.

Well, to each his own I suppose -- you like The Truman Show, I like superheroes. I find the questioning technique effective because it helps the students realize that they already know what an archetype is, they just have never given it that particular label before. Connecting to prior knowledge through the lead-in questions is a very beneficial technique. Thanks for the feedback!

Hey - I love teaching archetypes...do you mind telling me the plot lines you cover? I introduce the 10-11 common plot lines as well as dominant characters and settings. I would love to know a little more about what you cover...but very interested in the presentation! And I think superheros are a great choice:)

The only archetypal elements covered in this presentation are objects/places, colors/numbers, characters, situations (like the quest, the fall etc) but as far as plots, I cover that in another lesson all together. Hope this is helpful -- perhaps I should create a PowerPoint for the plot lines :)
