I'm teaching literacy to ESL adult learners (people who never learned to read in any language in their native countries). I like these materials because the graphics are attractive, yet not juvenile. Like many teachers, I don't have access to color copies, but the graphics look very good when copied in black and white. I copied all the Dolch words onto cardstock, and they're very useful. The sorting graphic organizer should be larger, however. The students in my class -- and children who are learning to read -- need more space to write.

This is a great resource! I am using this to help my ESL students recognize sight words, practice handwriting and gain a sense of sentence structure. Since I am using the product to help my students with their handwriting, I wish the capital letters were within the lines, instead of crossing over the top line.

Thanks for the response. I am glad that you are finding it useful. The lines are from a program called handwriting without tears. The program only uses the 2 lines (that's why the capital letters cross over that top line). :)

I used this with my kindergarten class after we had finished the workbook. They LOVED them, and the sentences really did help them with their sight words. I even had one kid come up and say "These words are all wall words!"

We use the alphabet hand signs as a quick way for students to indicate their answer choices. It lets me see who chose what just by scanning the room. Even after more than 100 days of school some children still ask how to make the letters! I am going to print this for them to keep at their desk.

It was created with this program so most likely will only work with it. If not, you might be able to download a free trial of the software.http://smarttech.com/downloads

I also teach baby sign language workshops to parents and caregivers.Baby Sign Language teaches simple gestures or signs, (American Sign Language) to hearing babies before they can speak).It helps bridge the gap of communication, strengthens bonds between babies and adults and enhances their language and vocabulary development.
