This will certainly be a time-saver for me when I use the book with a small reading group using Kindles! I would have given the unit an "A" if it included an answer key and I found a few comprehension errors. However, they were easy to fix on my downloaded copy and reprint. I recommend this Magic Tree House companion.

If you are going to sell things to others, please make sure to proofread it before you put it online to sell. There were MANY spelling errors and grammar errors in this product.

Thank you for the feedback. I will look into the document. I, too find many spelling mistakes and errors in the materials I purchase on TPT, but I try and keep in mind that everyone makes mistakes and we are all busy teachers. ;)

In general, this is a great resource. I especially like the writing prompts and art activities. I'll add literary devices/elements which weren't included, such as cliffhangers and flashbacks. Also, I just noticed that the title should be The Orphan "of" Ellis Island, not "at".

Thank you so much for this resource! My district has been using this series since 2003 and due to lack of funds 4-6 graders cannot write in the practice books that are consumable, imagine what shape they are in now! I'm always looking for resources for this outdated series. Great stuff!

Forgive me, I should have been more specific about the correction. I merely replaced the word "casual" with the phrase "quick but thorough" to avoid students thinking that casual suggested a cursory look.

I spoke this over with some of my fellow teachers who were also under the misconception of the word. So, I looked it up and was shocked to see that it does truly mean to examine carefully, however it is often used to mean skim or glance---which would be considered an error. So, I appreciate you bring it to my attention. I will have to adjust my materials accordingly in the future. I am sorry that you are so disturb about this error. However, it does sound to be a common one. I apologize. I hope you enjoy the book. It is a fantastic book. I personally like the unit as well. I do find it necessary to cut down some of the activities as well.

Dear Ms. Rousseau, I just purchased your workbook to go with Orphan of Ellis Island - It is well done in many ways and I'm sure it will be a valuable resource that I can easily adapt to my needs. However, I was shocked that your opening page had such a glaring mistake - Please,please, please look up the word peruse and use it correctly in the future. I am horrified at the number of students who may now have an incorrect - though extremely common misconception about that word. I saved my document so that I can edit it, but I would suggest that you see if you can remove the workbook, adjust the opening paragraph, and then repost.

Well. I will look that over. I actually got that idea from another teacher I worked with ---so, I never really questionned the use. There are some mistakes in this workbook that need to be corrected due to quick typing. The next time I plan to correct them and post a new version. But, with receiving the word document buyers are able to make their own corrections as necessary.

Yes, actually I few up and am in the process of a few. I teach a fourth and fifth grade split so, I have a variety of levels for book units. I haven't used the Revolutionary War one yet in my class. I'm glad you like it. I am thinking about using for one of my next book choices. Keep eye on my listings around Christmas time when I have more time to work on them. I know I will have some more posted. Thanks you for your comments.

I am sorry, I have yet to create an answer key. I haven't used in my classroom, yet. I am planning on soon. I will try and post an answer key after I have done it in my classroom. I enjoy writing the units, however, I don't always get to use them in my classroom.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Hello! I have been an elementary teacher for six years. My first year, I taught math and computers to third, fourth, and fifth graders.
