Exploring Elementary
Exploring Elementary   (TpT Seller) re: daily 5 anchor charts and reasons why we do it
Hello! Your Daily Five anchor charts look amazing, but I am not sure if you know you can't actually sell anything from Daily Five. You can offer it as a freebie. A really good resource to read is Margaret's at http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Top-5-Copyright-Questions-for-TpT-TeacherAuthors. She has been working with Amy and Paul and the TPT staff to help us all figure out the copyright laws. Good Luck with your TPT journey!

Have you seen all the forum talk about copyright issues with Dr. Seuss? You should check it out to make sure you are not in violation of copyright.

Do you have Suess approved clip art? I hope so because if you don't, you can have your rights as a seller revoked indefinitely without warning. In fact, having any products related to Suess or is grounds for removal because Suess industries has contacted tpt about sellers using copywritten material. It is a big deal that can actually shut down ALL of tpt so other sellers are also hoping your material is in compliance :) I hope that didn't sound snotty, I just didn't know if you were already aware. There are several threads on the tpt forum where you can read more about this:

Do you think it's fair....or ethical to use materials that are CLEARLY in violation of copyright? You are giving other TpT sellers a bad name and risking everything that we, collectively, have worked so hard to build. You know that it is not only wrong -- it is ILLEGAL. Yet you continue to leave the Seuss products up because you are making money. I wonder what the Seuss company will think of your store????

I started to print these and love the graphics and game, but I want to capitalize the i! I am always telling my students they have to capitalize the i in their writing and I just don't think I can use this until the I is capitalized! I love it otherwise!

I bought the I have, who has Dr. Seuss cards. I don't think your numbers are programmed correctly. It starts with who has 26? Then in the middle of the game it asks for 26 again. Then we just cycle through the same people/cards. Can you fix it and do an updated version?

Scipi  (TpT Seller) re: Read, write, illustrate with Dr. Seuss
I saw your posting on the Sellers Forum of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. Since you are new at this, here are a few suggestions that might help you to better market your products.

Add some clipart to add color or just color. For some reason buyers like color on the original even though they may copy your product in black and white. Also, create a cover page for each of your products which can then be used as an attractive thumbnail to entice buyers. You might also add a second page which is a directions or suggestions page for the teacher. (How do you use this? Is this a group or indivdual activity? Etc.) List several ways you use this product in your classroom. Never assume that a buyer knows how, why, or when to use your product.

Use the footer to put the copyright symbol, your name and date of creation on EVERY page. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations. Also number your pages. Finally, unless you want your products revised (I do for my tests) save everything in a PDF format as it is harder to change.

If you aren't sure what to do look at one of my freebies listed below.

I am now your 3rd follower, and hope you will reciprocate at my store as well. http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/SciPi/Products

The best of luck as you sell on TPT!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a second year teacher in First Grade. Last year, I taught Kindergarten. First graders are definitely the best age of kiddos to teach! I can't explain the amount of love I have for teaching them to read and watch their growth throughout the entire year. It is astonishing! I have been making powerpoints and many activities and graphic organizers for my own classroom and other teachers for awhile now, and just stumbled upon this site. How perfect!

MY TEACHING STYLE

...love, Love, LOVE the little ones...

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

The only awards I need are the ones I get from my students on a day-to-day basis!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Grew up in Memphis, TN. Moved to Chattanooga for college and couldn't be more happy! It is BEAUTIFUL here.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I love spending any free time making stuff for my classroom, hunting down goodies at flea markets and garage sales, crafting and making my home more beautiful and fun, spending time with my husband and always on the lookout for a new way I can reach my kids!
