I've finished it in as little as 2 weeks and I've extended it to one month, depending on student interest. The journal that comes with this unit is very customizable in terms of number of days. You could send the night journal home and ask students to make 5 observations during the same time that you complete the day journal at school. I just finished the journals for this year and I asked students to complete 10 entries over a 2 week time period. Basically, you can customize how long the unit will take. It also depends on how many nonfiction texts you want to use with the unit. I can tell you that my class loved this unit this year, so I drew it out a bit. I hope this helps! Thanks for the question!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I've been teaching kindergarten since 2008. I previously taught fourth grade, but I've discovered over the last few years that I love working with young children!
MY TEACHING STYLE
I like learning to be engaging and meaningful! I use the Common Core Standards in all of my planning. I focus on using developmentally appropriate practices with my kindergartners, with a focus on play. Learning should be fun!
