hodelfamily re: Long Division Games Bundle
Could you resend me a division number task card file? The formatting is off. One square is completely gone....only parallel lines, were there once one and some boxes over lap each other and I couldn't undo them. I send 20 minutes trying to drag boxes put it made it worse.

Hi hodelfamily,

I'm sorry you had trouble with this file! I will work on this tonight so that you can redownload by Sunday. I don't have your Email address so I hope that's okay. Since the file looks fine on my end when I open them in Word, I am going to take screenshots of the cards so that they are images instead of in Word format; hopefully the image format will work better for you!

I have a suggestion that you could try, in the meantime. Try adjusting your margins to 0.8. If that works, could you let me know? If it doesn't work, could you also let me know which game in particular you had trouble with (since I see you purchased a bundle).

[Edit] The images are now included in the file. You can re-download. Please let me know if you are successful!

Wow, that's embarrassing. It should be fixed now. I hope you enjoy it and your light vocabulary bonus product, haha.

Seriously though, I'm wondering if it was a site issue because the name of the file I looked at did say it was my rocks and minerals one, even though when I opened the file from this site it was the wrong one, as you said. And it also took me two attempts just now when I re-uploaded for the correct file to show up. So please let me know if you have another problem with this product.

Amber,

I just wanted to thank you for responding to my request for feedback and sending me to the correct location. In my quest to ask for feedback, I had neglected to scroll down to the "Ask for Feedback here .." section. I am still trying to navigate around all of these sites and forums. I will repost my request in that section. By the way, I am impressed with the depth and breadth of your store. Considering the amount of work I put into my first product for purchase, I am amazed at how many sellers there are with over 100 products .. quite the achievement. Thank you again for your help.

And it takes time to get loads of products; I've been here since 2009. You'll get there, if you enjoy it and keep at it. Good luck; I'll go visit your thread later on!

I downloaded your product but it didn't download right . It came out with very tiny writing and some writing was unrecognizable. Is there some way I can get it in a PDF format? I have a Mac and I don't know if that's what's causing the problem.

Hi Maria,

I'm sorry the Word file did not work on your Mac. This is a known problem on TPT, so I'll revise my other zipped products to clearly state they contain Word docs in the future.

I don't have experience converting from Word to PDF since I'm using Word 2003. I feel for you though, having paid $25 for a product that won't work on your system! So I Emailed a friend who converted the files for us. If you re-download the product, it now contains PDF versions of all 5 units in addition to the Word docs. I can't guarantee the formatting on every page since a friend did it, but it should at least open on your computer.

I hope this solution works out for you. Thank you again for your purchase.

Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for your interest! :) I am hesitant to "mix" the kids' blog with this site since it's commercial. I wouldn't want anyone to think I was using it as some sort of part of sales promotion.

However, in the future I may do a blog post with screenshots and description of how I use it on my commercial blog. That way I can keep the students' work out of it. The link is: http://yourhomeschoolconnectionsite.blogspot.com/

Thanks again; I'll try to post this weekend now that you've given me some motivation to do so! :)

apryl walsh  (TpT Seller) re: Learning Center Rotation Poster
If I have four different centers for the day and three groups rotating between reading groups, seat work, and then learning centers how would this work?
September 2, 2012 Report inappropriate comment
Amber Thomas
Amber Thomas  (TpT Seller)
Hi Apryl,

With this product, you can have as many or as few learning centers as you need posted up for all to see. Just print the number of copies you need (it sounds like you'd have 5) and then I would suggest you trim them to have a thin white border, and hang them vertically. Before you print, I would change the text (but keep the font) to say "Reading Groups," "Seat Work," "Centername1," "Centername2," "Centername3."

If your students are moving as a group, such as group A, B, and C, it's okay to have 2 blank centers at any given time.

You can write the group names, such as A, B, and C on Post It notes and stick them in the square. Designate a student from Group A to move all the Post Its down one (and the bottom to the top) when you call for transition time.

I hope this is helpful! Have a great school year.

P.S. Sorry this is a big block of text; this site re-formats my paragraph breaks after I edit a comment and I can't change it back.

Hi Michelle,
The book we use is fairly old. The 4th grade book we use is called “Regions and Resources,” and it's by Silver Burdett & Ginn.

I'm not sure if you are able to see my Q&A below, so forgive me if this is repetitive, but I'll repost what I told another teacher:

I purposely tried to make the product useful to anyone (including myself, in the hopes that we’ll get a more up to date series soon!) regardless of series. For example, I took out any references to specific maps from the book. The tests are in Word form so if there is a question that isn't covered in your book you can easily take it out. The projects are pretty universal (for example, the landform art project can be done no matter what book you’re using, because the landforms don’t change).

Although I have long lists of “suggested answers” for your reference,
this product is more geared toward teaching the concepts of natural resources, products, landmarks, landforms, and recreation and letting students research to find answers. I teach in Massachusetts, and these concepts are in our frameworks.

Thanks for your inquiry, and have a great year!

I love your bulletin board leaf item. I am going to purchase that if I can find a large Ohio cutout to put on my bulletin board. My school's theme for the beginning of the year is the state of Ohio. Do you happen to have an Ohio cutout that would be large enough to put on a bulletin board as a center piece? I would be happy to buy that as well. Thanks! If it's easier, please email me at jacqmwhit@gmail.com

Hi Jacqueline,

Thanks for your inquiry :)

Unfortunately, I've never worked with large digital images before. Although I am confident I could draw Ohio to be whatever size you need, my scanner can only handle 8.5 x 11 sized paper. I don't feel confident that I could get you a quality large image, sorry.

Good luck with your bulletin board, and have a great year!

I saw your store on the home page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. I left you a rating. Well done!

I have a couple of suggestions that might help you to better market this product. First, Make sure this loads as a 100% view. I had to click on "one page" as it came up as two, and then on 100%. Some buyers may not know to do that.

Use the footer to put the copyright symbol, your name and date of creation on EVERY page. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations.

Since you are a math person, I’d appreciate your feedback on my freebie listed below.

I am now your 3rd follower, and hope you will reciprocate at my store as well. http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/SciPi/Products

The teaching world needs quality math materials; so, good luck as you sell on TPT!

Ruth S.  (TpT Seller) re: Pencil Bulletin Board Cutouts
Hi Amber..I just tried downloading it again and it didn't upload. Just a blank Word page. Before contacting Paul, you might want to try and upload it again. I'd make the first one "inactive" and then upload it again. The inactive section is on the same page where you upload a product to TpT. It's sort of near the bottom of the page to the left. You'll see "ACTIVE" but change it to "inactive". Inactive means that no one but you will be able to see it. Then I'd upload it again. Most likely you're able to because it's in your system. I've uploaded hundreds of products over the years that I've been selling here and haven't had any problems with PC or Mac software, thus the reason I'm thinking it might be a glitch in the TpT system. Keep me posted. If Paul needs to hear from me, let me know. :)

Hi Amber.. I'm going to try and download it again.. I'm using Word for Mac version 2008.. It has the .docx endings but I can upload and download using the older version of Word that has the .doc ending if I have to. (can't remember what they're called LOL so I call the endings) I'll notify Paul to see if there's a glitch on TpT's end, if I can't upload it again. :)
Ruth
Oh! I might add...make sure you add your copyright info at the bottom of all of your TpT products so that if a buyer downloads it, they'll know your TpT store site. Sometimes they don't bookmark our stores :) You'll see that on my free journal prompt product :)

Hi Ruth,
Thanks for visiting my store :) I really appreciate you mentioning the problem you had! It worked for me just now, but whatever glitch you ran into could happen to others so I'll contact TPTB. Would it be too much trouble for you to contact them too, in case they need to know which version of word you are using, your operating system or your browser? Thanks again :)

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a fourth grade teacher at the same school for 7 years, where I teach presently. I taught third grade in a charter school for 3 years. Prior to my full time teaching career I was a paraprofessional for a teacher of the deaf for grades 1 and 2 for a year, and a preschool teacher for 2 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am pragmatic so I can meet the needs of my students. I teach my fourth graders about working in groups so they can learn social skills as well as academics. I enjoy the balanced literacy reading and writing program. Some experts who have influenced me are John Collins and Lucy Caulkins. In math I use a combination of note taking and math games to promote understanding of vocabulary and principles as well as practice for applying skills. My district has also recently adopted the Math In Focus (Singapore Math) program. In science and social studies I teach research skills to enhance students' writing as well as reading to learn new information since.
