I just found you today and I saw you were in Roanoke, Va. I wish I would be there today to see Nellie from Little House on the Prairie. She is at Life Church (I think). I came there a couple of years ago to see Dolly Parton's sister and 2 actresses from the Walton's. I think Rick Via also preaches in a church there. Wonderful city to visit! TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching for 16 years in third and fourth grade classrooms. My focus has been on reading, and I have received my Master's in Reading. I am now the Reading Specialist, my dream job, in the school where I began my teaching career.
MY TEACHING STYLE
I love to see students learn for themselves. I feel I am a facilitator of their learning. By giving them the tools they need to learn, my students take off to find out for themselves.
HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT
I have been nominated as teacher of the year, but have never received the honor. The best moment of my teachng was the day that I was told I would be the Reading Specialist at the school where I started my career!
MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY
I attended Longwood College, now Longwood University, in Farmville, VA and received my Bachelor's of Arts in 1997. I received my Master's of Education, with a concentration in reading from the University of Virginia in 2010. I continue to seek out new ways to teach students to learn to read better!
ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
I am the mother of two beautiful children, a boy and a girl. They are almost 7 years apart, so I have my work cut out for me when I am home! I have been married for over 10 years and couldn't be happier!
