HI! I love all of your items that I have purchased and I had a favor to ask that doesn't pertain to this resource.

I don't remember which math item I purchased from you but one had a math journal label page with four labels to a page with a blue border. I was wondering if I could talk you into making one titled "My Learning Journal". I know you are very busy but just thought I would ask.

Thanks so much for all you do!

How do you present a pdf as a slideshow?
April 13, 2014 Report inappropriate comment

Hi Jeanne,

The slideshow has to be uploaded as a PDF per font and clipart copyright agreements. To advance a PDF show, use your up and down arrows. By manually advancing the slides, you can control the speed. We usually warm up a little slowly, but then my students like for me to go faster on the second round. They LOVE these Bump games! :)

Quick question...is the "body" template 8.5 x 11? What size paper should I use for the booklet? Legal size? Prefer to make the template smaller but don't know if it's possible. Thank you!

Hi Hilda,

Yes, the body outline will fit on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of copy paper. The document isn't editable, but you could shrink the outline on a copy machine if you'd like it to be smaller.

Have a great week,
Andrea :)

Could you send me an instruction sheet for "Bump" for our parent helpers? Bump is not a familiar game in our early years classrooms.

Andrea Knight  (TpT Seller)
Hi Cathy,

I don't have a sheet of instructions, but it's very easy to use. I just advance the slides and the children say the word they see. Since they are sight words, my goal is for the children to know these words automatically on sight. At first, I advance the slides at a slower pace so the children are successful, but gradually (over days), I increase the speed. They love trying to keep up. The reason they stay engaged is because they're waiting for the "fun words" (like snap, clap, stomp) to come up on the slides. When they see one of these words, they do what it says. When the slide says "Bump!" the children bump up out of their seats and then sit back down. I hope this explanation helps. :)

Kristyn... I'm sorry. There are two reasons I can't send it in editable form. Per clipart copyright agreements, I can't send an unsecured file because the clipart can be lifted and used. Also, I have a MacBook so the document was created in "Pages," an Apple program. I don't have Word. I wish I could help because it's a wonderful idea. Maybe you could print the Spanish words on labels and add them to the front of each card. :)

Please know I've (unfortunately) had to delete some pinners recently due to overpinning paid products and not including free ideas in their pinning activity. Take a look at our board rules and pin 3 non-paid ideas for each paid pin posted. We want the majority of our boards' content to be non-paid so they don't take on a "commercial feel." Thanks! :)

Thanks for your reply. I would love to translate them but I would have to cut the translation and paste it onto the poster. Please be sure to pin 3 non-paid ideas for each paid pin posted and limit your paid pins to 3 per day. It's my goal to restore these boards and ensure there's a variety of original content being shared with our followers.

Andrea Knight  (TpT Seller)
The plans you purchased are a PDF and are not editable. There are blank sheets for including your schedule, medical needs, etc., but the plans themselves can't be edited. They were designed to be generic enough for emergency plans, but I suppose if you needed to change something, you could just write a note on that page to indicate a different idea. Most items uploaded to the Teachers Pay Teachers site are in PDF form, as per their request, to protect copyright laws. I do believe TpT has a process in place if you need to request a refund for an item.

No, not all of the pages include illustrations. I like having some open-ended blank pages for the children because it gives me an opportunity to teach text-picture match. Typically, when making these books, I'll say, "What kind of picture would make sense on this page? Think about what the words are trying to teach us. What would be important to include in this illustration?" I think it increases comprehension and my students really enjoy creating the pictures themselves. Because each illustration is a little different, it also provides a chance for the students to compare and contrast each others' drawings and how they interpreted the text. Hope this helps... thanks for your interest. :)

I don't have one right now... it just depends on the clipart I have. I have another resource for clipart that I haven't checked. If I have a brunette boy or one with darker skin tones, I'll create it and upload it soon. Thanks!

Hi Andrea, I have all of your parts of a.... kids, thank you so much for sharing your creation. I work in a very diverse school and celebrate our differences. I use your kids for journal covers and try to represent each ethnicity in my class. I am in need of asian and spanish ethnicities for all subjects, is there any chance you could create them for me, I'm ready to pay and would like to have them as soon as possible for the first week of school just around the corner :0)

Hi Kasey,

I'm limited by the clipart sets I have available to me. Unfortunately, I don't have the images you're requesting at this time, but I'm always looking for additional clipart at good prices. As I get new images, I'll continue to create new posters.

Thanks for your interest.
Have a great year! :)

Hi! I just bought your classroom library labels and LOVE them!!! After re-organizing my library I realized there are a couple labels that i don't have, but need. I am a bit of a perfectionist and like everything to be matching... Is there a way that I can order specific library labels from you? I know this is a crazy busy time for everyone, so I understand if this is not possible, but I thought I would ask! THANK YOU!!!

Hi Sarah,

We are just starting our second week of school this Monday and my to-do list is pretty long, unfortunately. I'm not able to fill additional requests at this time, but there are blank labels in the packet. The item is not editable, but you should be able to paste text into the tag and then print. (If you have an image you like, you can paste that in as well.) That way, all your tags will be the same size and shape.

Thanks for your interest.
Have a great year! :)

Your kit looks great. I just need a few that you don't have. Are you able to make some custom labels for an additional fee?

HI Andrea-
I just bought your library labels and love them. However, they are too big for my baskets and I want them smaller. Is there a way to shrink them down? Thanks
Kathy

Hi Kathy,

I don't know an "easy" way because the item isn't editable. However, maybe your copy machine has a setting for decreasing copy size.

My only other suggestion is to take a "screen shot" of each tag, turning it into a jpeg and then shrinking each shot, but that would take a long time.

Will this file be added to (to include things like Letter ID, counting to 100, etc)? Thanks!

Hi Jessica,

As I go through the year, I know I'll be making changes as needed, but I don't have any changes planned at this point.

Thanks,
Andrea :)

Donna B. re: Math Journal Labels {Free}
Do you have any other subject area journal labels (writing, etc.) that are in the same style and size as the Science Notebook Labels and the Math Journal Labels? I do not care if they are free or not - I just want continuity in label size and style on all of my students journals.
Sincerely,
Donna Boyle

Hi Donna,

I don't have other labels at this time... only the math and science labels I made for my students' folders.

Thank you for your interest,
Andrea Knight :)

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 17 years of teaching experience with primary children. Most of those years have been with children in 1st and 2nd grades, as well as intensive reading remediation with K-3 students. I am currently serving as a literacy coach in a PreK-5 elementary school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe children learn best in classrooms that are highly engaging and cooperative in design, with a focus on multisensory instruction. A balanced literacy program and integrated studies are important to me so children experience a connectedness throughout their day and across the year.
