My experience as a camp administrator and school teachers have both influenced my content development work. Students have to have a good time while they are learning or it'll be difficult to learn. I have worked with pre-schoolers, elementary school students, middle school students, high school students and post college graduates.
I work hard to develop lessons that actively enage my students in thinking about important ideas. Many of my lessons incorporate drama, art, and/or debate. All of my lessons include group work. Even though I primarily teach high school students, I believe that the best teachers are kindergarten teachers. If kindergarten teachers don't engage their students they quickly become bored.
I received a great honor the day that a twenty year, who had been a student of mine in 6th grade, came up to me and repeated a story that I had told him. I take great pride that my students remember me years later.
