I was very disappointed to find that this was not really a guided reading unit. There was only 1 page which contained 4 questions relating to the story. The rest of the unit relied on student's prior knowledge and could be answered without reading the book. While it is important to activate prior knowledge, when guided reading students should be focusing on some skill while reviewing prior skills covered. Students who are reading Ready Freddy books should be well past the "connect to my life" stage of reading. There is so much more that could be done with this book.
I would have liked more writing and creative activities. I liked the vocabulary words and the way it looked very kid friendly. This is good for my younger students.
