I have been teaching in Public Education for 10 years and during that time I have worked with teachers on technology integration. I have also taught at the Community College level. I see technology has a natural addition to what teachers are already doing. It should not be one more thing they have to do but should be a natural and easy way to teach core subject matter.
My style of teaching is project based. I believe everyone learns better when there is a goal to be reached. The projects need to relate to the students and what they may use in the future. This style of teaching can impart the basics of how to do something, and then the student can take this information and apply it to other areas of their lives. I want to be remembered by my students as a teacher who taught them not only the information pertinent to what we are studying but also about subjects that are not in a book: how to be responsible, the consequences of the choices we make, that we can achieve anything, no matter the background and the baggage we carry. I want my students to remember a teacher who would laugh easily but who would hold them accountable for their actions.
