TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have enjoyed 23 years in education, including 18 in the high school English classroom and three years as a 6-12 ELA curriculum specialist for the third largest school district in North Carolina. Currently, I am working from home as a freelance writer and mom.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My strength is my ability to build rapport with my students, so my lessons are very relational; conferencing, cooperative grouping, pair work, and seminars are common elements of my lessons. I tend to script my own lesson plans, so my published materials are ready to be used in the classroom.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I live in Greensboro, North Carolina with my husband, a former elementary teacher. In May of 2012 we adopted a newborn boy and named him Samuel, which means "God Heard." In addition to creating instructional materials, I serve schools and districts as a consultant and train teachers in writing instruction.
