Is there any way to download a sample page? This sounds wonderful, but I was hoping to read a sample and the few pages are just too small to read.

Were you able to download the .zip file? If so, double click on that file and a folder should open. Inside that folder you will see the .swf file.

If you do see the .zip file but still can't open, please send me an email at barb@lessonpop.com. I'll send you a different file.

We'll get it working one way or another.

Does it have the texts?
January 12, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
n/a
Barbara Kruger  (TpT Seller)
The stems are not text specific because the Common Core does not identify core texts by grade. What we did is write stems that allow you to insert any title- and other elements- you are reading. Here is an example of a stem from standard RL2: "What (message/lesson) can be take from (title of story/text/drama)?" Here is another example from standard RL5: How does (main character's) problem evolve in this (chapter/stanza/scene)? This way, you can use the stems as a guide and tweak them to meet your text specific needs. All stems require students to use text based evidence to support their answers.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

It is a flashed based program. The Lesson Pop app will work. First try dragging the .swf file into an open browser window. If that doesn't work email me barb@lessonpop.com and I will help you out.

It is a Flash based program, so I'm not sure were the Read 180 comes in. Anyway, when you drag the swf file into an open browser window, can you describe what happens? Do you see a black box or get an error message? If you can email me at barb@lessonpop.com, I can send you a file that should work depending on what you see on your screen.

Thanks,

Hi,
I am a teacher in Ohio i know that most states have switched to the common core but wasnt sure if these would be good for Ohio. Can you give me a little more information on the product and how to use it. the pictures are too hard to make out on the computer
thank you!

Barbara Kruger  (TpT Seller)
Hello,

I know the Common Core is confusing. Ohio is one of the states that has adopted the Common Core so these discussion stems would be perfect for you!

The Common Core State Standards are shifting the way teachers think about, plan, and execute reading instruction. LessonPop’s flipbooks not only help teachers understand each standard, they help scaffold their questioning and deepen students' understanding of literature and informational text.
Each grade-specific book features two levels of discussion stems for each grade specific standard. The first level of questions is designed to build the foundation of the standard. The second is designed to deepen understanding while encouraging turn and talk opportunities. Both sets of questions require students to use text-based evidence when answering, can be used as written response questions or answered orally and can be used in whole or small groups. Sample performance tasks are also provided for each standard, as well as bonus critical thinking questions. The book functions as a "two-in-one" flip book; flip one way for Reading Literature, flip the other way for Reading Informational Text.
Hope this helps!

Tracy,

Here is an example of some Kindergarten discussion stems that are aligned with RI.7 With prompting and supports, describe the relationship between the illustration and the text in which they appear (e.g., what person, place, thing, or idea in the text an illustration depicts).
Start the conversation with...
What's happening in the text (show pictures)?
What do we learn from this illustration?
How does the caption or label help you understand the text?
Continue with a turn and talk to your partner...
Discuss why the illustration showed _______ this way.
Discuss how the picture helps to explain the text.

This flip-book is designed to help you stay focused on the standard you want to work on with your students. This teaching tool allows you to use any text whether you are reading it to your students or they are reading on their own to practice skills that will move them towards mastery of that standard.

If you would like to see a better picture of a page in the book, please email me at barb@lessonpop.com. I'll be more than happy to share that information with you.

Thanks for asking your question!

I'm sorry I didn't see this email until right now. When you download the files double click on the zip file. It will open into a folder that has 3 documents inside. If you double click on the getting started file it will give you all the directions you need. If for some reason you cannot open the PDF file, all you really have to do is drag the swf file into any open browser window. What I mean by that is open up Firefox, Safari, or Explorer. It does matter what page is there. Drag the swf file right into that window and the app should open.

So check the folder where you save downloads to in order to find the twitter101 file.

If you are still having trouble email me again at barb@lessonpop.com and I will send you tile files directly tomorrow. I would need a email address to do that.

Once again sorry for the delay in my response.

I downloaded version one and version 2, neither of which gives me a usable .swf file. Could it be that .swf needs a program that I don't have? I'm running Windows 7. I would love to check these out, but the button won't work. When I try dragging the generic looking icon on the .swf, it won't allow me to drop it on a web page. :(

It sounds like you might have an older version of the web browser. Here are two suggestions:
1. try updating your browser
or
2. Go to www.LessonPop.com/shop
Download the viewer (it works with both PC and Mac) Then click on the FREE APP tab at the top of the site. Fill in your email address and we will send you 6 free apps. Two of the on Tweeter, 2 reading and 2 on writing. Follow the directions. These apps (through our website) work with the viewer not a browser.

Try using the files on a different computer might also work.

Please let me know how you make out! And when you get the app to work, please let us know what you think!

First of all thank you for downloading Twitter 101 and 102. The pdf file explains how to open our apps.

Keep all the files (especially the intro.flv and the .swf) in a folder. (They have to stay together.) Open up any browser (Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox). It doesn't matter what website you are looking at, just drag the .swf file into the browser window. The app will automatically start playing.

We would love to know what you think after you've viewed it and please tell your friend!

If you are still having trouble, please contact me again.
