I Graduated from the University of Idaho in 1994 with credentials in Secondary Physics and Mathematics. After teaching almost every possible subject the public schools have to offer-- including but not limited to--Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Anatomy, Earth Science, Life Science, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, AND a few years as a full time long term substitute teacher, I bumped myself upstairs to the University level, receiving my Masters in Adult Education in 2003. I have since taught developemental mathematics for students ages 18-80 at Idaho State University, Boise State University, and Eastern Idaho Technical College, including GED and ESL students.
I like to concentrate on what temptations and trapdoors mathematics puts in our way in an effort to deceive students into getting wrong what they otherwise would have gotten right. I love to expose these temptations right out of the gate, engaging the students in interactive Q & A sessions before and after my daily explainations.
My Masters Degree final project was a 45 minute documentary written, filmmed, and starring me. The project was an exploration of the human brain, where I bluescreened myself into a computer generated model, explaining the various pieces and functions, including those pieces that may not have our best interests of learning at heart. This documentary can be viewed on the authors webpage here, which features even more educational videos::: http://www.hometown.aol.com/strahd27/TITLE.html
