I plan on handing out the Comprehension Questions Parent Letter at conference time. However, one part of the translation (what is the setting? ) is missing from the English to Spanish part of the parent letter.
"Who are the characters and what was the setting? ¿Quiénes son los personajes (personas o animals)?"

This is a wonderful product-your pictures re beautiful and I love the concept. However, since i couldn't preview the word list, I mistakenly thought it would be words with two closed syllables and a double consonant in the middle. Is there any way you could send me just the pages that have those words in this presentation? rabbit, puppet, etc? This is for developing 2nd grade readers in a Tier 3 intervention who aren't ready yet for all of the syllable types.

It may be because I saved it in a format that would be easy for students to use independently, instead of having to navigate through the toolbar options to view the show. I did this because some like to use this as a center. I sent you the product in the "presentation" format. Due to its size, I sent it through Google Drive. Thank you for your question! That particular slideshow breaks down 20 words into the three syllables. It includes a random mixture of the various syllable types that the entire series covers. If more words are added to the slideshows in the future, which is quite possible, you will be invited to re-download it at no additional charge. In fact, if you email me at bilingualliteracygeek.com I would like to send you one of these for free so you can see what they are about. Specify if you would like this slideshow or if you're interested in a different one. It's a new English version of a successful Spanish product that has gotten a positive reaction from the TPT community. Since this version is new, I'm trying to get it some exposure. Just wanted to say that I have begun using these on my 1st graders and they have taken SO well to these syllables. They put the word together before I even scroll to the entire word--last week they pronounced "microscopio" without a single hesitation! I know you said that there was no demand for the accompanying bundles--although I can hardly see why--but that you did submit one onto tPt. Would I be able to try that one to see if that is something my students would do well with? I'm just not sure what to search for if it is still floating around tPt.

I am new to teaching (started last week) and would like to try your syllabits on my first and second graders this year. If the "m's" go well, I plan to purchase your entire bundle. I was wondering if you had published the accompanying assessments (I know the trial powerpoint says there is more to come, and that was one of them!) or if there are any assessment worksheets to go along with the powerpoint. Thank your for your questions, Dani. I hope your students find the slideshows enjoyable. I have been working on the assessments for quite some time. Each syllable set was taking me about 50 hours, because I wanted them to be thorough and of good value. My plan was to make an extensive pack for each syllable set and release each one as they were completed. I posted one a while ago but sadly...it did not sell. Not a single one. That led me to believe that there wasn't much of a demand for it at the time. Maybe there were other resources out there fulfilling that need. Since I only try to post products that folks need-no fluff- I shifted my focus to some other products I'll be releasing soon. I will certainly go back to making the assessment packets as you have alerted me to the demand, I'm just not sure when. If there's anything in particular that you would like them to include, please let me know and I'll try to add it to the projects. For now, I'll think of a way to reword my "coming soon" notice. Hi, Michele! It is a complete and unused kit. Everything that was shrink-wrapped still is. I did, however, have to write my name on the box to keep our TA's from removing it from the air conditioned storage room at my school. I definitely understand what you mean about the tight budget! Would it help if I make it $135 + the 15$ flatrate shipping for an even $150 (instead of 175+15)? Let me know if that works and I will adjust the price for you. Also, just as a side note, TPT now does school orders so you can now request it from your administration.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I am a Teach For America alumn with 5 years of experience, primarily in Bilingual Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade classrooms. I take joy in serving economically disadvantaged, minority, and/or immigrant students in Houston, TX. I have also found it incredibly rewarding to work with incoming TFA Corps Members and new teachers, serving as a mentor through Teach For America and the Knowledge is Power Program.
MY TEACHING STYLE
Varied. Like all good teachers, I love to use visuals, realia, chants/songs, total physical response (movement), and tactile kinesthetic opportunities for learning. I also love technology!
HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT
I was nominated for the Sue Lehmann Excellence in Teaching Award as well as Bilingual Educator of the Year. Although I received the highest number of votes for the latter, I was ineligible for the award for only being in my 2nd year of teaching at the time. Darn.

Originally from Savannah, GA, I attended high school at Savannah Arts Academy. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration. My intentions were set on consulting and entrepreneurship until Teach For America visited my business fraternity for an information session. I was brought to tears and embarassed that night by what I learned about the state education in our country, and the achievement gap that existed between economically disadvantaged students and their more affluent peers. Though in final round interviews with consulting firms, I instead took on the 2 year commitment to Teach For America and have now been in education for 4 years and counting! I cannot imagine having made any other decision.
