I have been a special education teacher for 19 years. I have taught resource and self-contained. My passion is teaching students at the lower end of the special education spectrum and students with autism.
I believe in hands-on, real-world learning experiences.
I am currently the Teacher of the Year for my school and for my school system. I am also a top 10 finalist for the 2013 Georgia Teacher of the Year. I have been Teacher of the Year in two other schools. I am a Philip Wright Award winner which is given to individuals who are advocates for those with special needs.
I have a B.S. degree in special education with emphasis in intellectual disabilities. I have a M.S. degree in elementary education. I have an EdS. degree in teacher leadership. I have endorsements in ESOL, reading, and Teacher Support Specialist.
I love living in the mountains. I have 3 chihuahuas at home.
