I'm so sorry, late night in a long week, and I just saw the file says .ppt.dot not .doc.. I'm either blind or losing it, possibly both! But still on the subject, how do I go about opening the file?... I have a macbook with the Microsoft Office for Mac (powerpoint, word, excel, etc) Is there something else I should have to open it?

Hello, I was wondering if there was an error in this file that you uploaded? It says that it is a .ppt.doc format, which it should only be one of those two. Either a .ppt if it is a powerpoint or a .doc for word document. Could you let me know if there is another way to get this file because I'm really interested in taking a look at it for my advanced Bio 2 kids! I think they'd love it.

Hello Kristine,

Sure, sounds good to me. You can paypal me say $3 (as a gift so I can get by the fees) I'll email it to you right away. If it works for you, I would suggest the other powerpoints that go along with it. I start the unit with "Mechanisms of Evolution" followed by "Evidence for Evolution", and the "Patterns of Evolution" Essentially a transition into ecology.

I am a student teacher and have used several powerpoints to lecture with. My mentor would like me to use other strategies. Do you have a suggestion as to how to use your powerpoints and include some student activity--it is for a 9th grade class
October 8, 2011 Report inappropriate comment
BJ
BJ  (TpT Seller)
Thanks for the email. I try to limit lecture to 20 minutes a day, especially with the 9th graders... try mixing in a review game (I have JEOPARDY games for most topics available on TpT) in which the kids are divided into groups and compete against one another. I also include weekly lab activities to supplement lecure content. Anything to get them up out of there seats and interacting with one another (while remaining on task of course) is key. Remember that they're oftern more likley to learn from one another than they are from their teacher.... What subject are you teaching now? I can discuss specifics with you if you like :) Thank you SO much for your interest!

Dear BJ,

My name is Jack Dennison. I am the Editor-in-Chief of www.FunnelBrain.com, an educational website. I am writing to you because the quality of the work you have posted to PTP distinguishes you as a talented author. I am looking for teacher-authors to create custom study review materials for FunnelBrain (on a paid basis, of course).

These study materials would take the form of online flashcards, quizzes, and study guides for high school and college level courses, as well as for certain standardized exams such as the GMAT, the SAT or the GRE. We are also interested in lesson plans built around activities that can take place on www.FunnelBrain.com.

If you are interested in a paid writing assignment, please email me at jack@funnelbrain.com, and I will respond with details on the available assignments. In the meantime, please feel free to browse FunnelBrain.com.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Jack Dennison

Its an albino anaconda...you see pics of them all the time attempting to eat prey that big but you never see them get past the shoulders....if it did it would prob kill the snake...just a guess there. Anyway, glad you liked it. I've got 65 of these for biology topics if you're interested...no quiz for this one though. Thanks again for looking!

It sure does...I think you'll be happy with it. You can always add a slide or 2, but I think it's very complete with regard to CA 8th grade science standards. BTW, some of the info on galaxies may no longer be accurate, as the hubble has re-written the book on most of that info... Thanks for looking and have a great year! BJ

Hey thanks for taking a look :) I'm limited on file size if I try to put them all together. If you want we can work something out (a discounted bulk rate kinda thing) via paypal and I can just send you these as a 'zip file' to your email... TpT won't get their 15% but oh well, they get plenty from me already lol!

I also have the physiology powerpoints on "The 5 senses", "drugs and the human body", "nutrition", and "body planes and cavities" which I incorporate into my physiology cirriculum as well.

Shoot me an email at ben_wylam@yahoo.com and let me know what you're thinking... Thanks again!
