Unfortunately I do not have any photos yet this year. I would have the kids write on the rays. There should be enough space for two sentences at least. Then you can attach it on the star. With a little color, it looks super cute!

This looks really good to me, especially because it is directly related to Common Core. However, it says varying grade levels. I teach 5th grade and I'm wondering if the materials would work for all grade levels or if it's more geared towards a certain one. Thank you.

I included materials to meet the needs of all grade levels. It includes nine different rubrics (three for each grade and each type of writing). I think the examples will generate great conversation at all levels. Check out the preview and see what you think.

For the opinion unit the standards are below. If you decide to check out the bundle let me know and I will share all of those as well :)

Third Grade

a. Introduce the topic or text they are writing about, state an opinion, and create an organizational structure that lists reasons.
b. Provide reasons that support the opinion.
c. Use linking words and phrases (e.g., because, therefore, since, for example) to connect opinion and reasons.
d. Provide a concluding statement or section.

Fourth Grade
1. Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information.
a. Introduce a topic or text clearly, state an opinion, and create an organizational structure in which related ideas are grouped to support the writer’s purpose.
b. Provide reasons that are supported by facts and details.
c. Link opinion and reasons using words and phrases (e.g., for instance, in order to, in addition).
d. Provide a concluding statement or section related to the opinion presented.

Fifth Grade

a. Introduce a topic or text clearly, state an opinion, and create an organizational structure in which ideas are logically grouped to support the writer’s purpose.
b. Provide logically ordered reasons that are supported by facts and details.
c. Link opinion and reasons using words, phrases, and clauses (e.g., consequently, specifically).

This unit is more open ended opinions. It helps students develop their ideas of the best and worst things into a piece of writing. I think you could use many of the resources included (models, rubrics, posters) but it does not include stories to write an opinion about. I don't think this is what you're looking for. Good luck!

scain2 re: Differentiated Math Menus for the Common Core: Fourth Grade
I just downloaded the Math Menus for fourth grade and am very excited to implement in my classroom. That being said, I was wondering if you have any suggestions for introducing menus to the whole class. My kids this year are HORRIBLE at reading directions so this isn't something I am just going to be able to distribute. I was thinking of doing a kind of jigsaw activity so that we can hit a lot of information at once, but I would love to hear your thoughts or advice. Thanks in advance, Newbie Teacher!

Brenda Martin  (TpT Seller)
I usually introduce the math menus after teaching a concept, usually the day after the assessment. I return the assessment to the kids so they can get a clearer picture of their level of understanding. I will say something like "If you scored mostly 3s on your assessment then you are probably at a level 3 and this column is probably most appropriate for you." Then I review all of the tasks and show students the materials. I give them a lot of time on the first day to begin a project. After that, this becomes a rotation in my math workshop (that can be explained in math workshop management pack). Hope this helps!!

Scipi  (TpT Seller)
I saw your posting on the Sellers Forum page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie.

Here are a few suggestions that might help you to better market your products. First, create a cover page for EVERY product you create which can then be used as an attractive thumbnail to entice buyers. Add a second page which is a directions or suggestions page. List several ways you use this product in your classroom. Never assume that a buyer knows how, why, or when to use your product. Use the footer to put the copyright symbol, your name and date of creation on EVERY page. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations. Also, number your pages.

I love to get feedback as well; so, if you have time, I’d appreciate your input on one of my freebies listed below.
