Paige re: Writing Workshop Small Group Work: Writing With Style
Hi, I was hoping to get more information for the Write It! & Post It! aspects of these lessons, specifically for writing with interesting nouns & adjectives. I have already purchased the bundle to this, and I'm just looking for guidance as to how the graphic organizers should look when they're filled out. Can you please email me or respond on here? Thank you! BPaigeMiller(at)hotmail(dot)com

The write it! lesson is designed for students to evaluate thier own writing. I have students pull a story they are writing during writing workshop and evaluate their parts of speech using the guiding questions. For the post it! lesson I have kids choose specific parts of speech for example adjectives and make them better. It's basically a way to help specifically revise their writing using parts of speech. This is not a lesson that every group will need but definitely some kids benefit from taking a deeper look into their word choice using parts of speech. I hope this helps!

The other documents look fine.
I have the latest Adobe...any ideas?

Brenda, I think your 3rd Grade Science Bundle is fabulous. But the wording on pg. 9 needs to be fixed.

Did you know that an object at rest tends to stay at rest unless acted UPON OR ON by an unbalanced force?

It needs another word? How do I get a fixed copy of that page?

Thanks so much.

Sorry...I have been out of town. Here are a few ideas, but I am sure your students will come up with even better ideas :)
11. What month has the coldest weather?
12. What weather related item is often used when flowers spring up?
13. What is another nickname for Olaf from Frozen?

Again, these are just examples. The goal is to get kids to think up their own creative questions. Enjoy!

I bought your science bundle and noticed there is a spelling error in the Physical Science 3rd grade packet. It's on the page about moving a cardboard house/brick house. It says in the second sentence "Pretend you were moving a cardboard house, you wouldn't need very "much" force (instead of much force).

Hi Brenda,

I am looking at your Fables, Folktales, and Myths unit. It says that there is a mentor text list. Is there also mentor texts? Will I find fables, folktales, and myths for the lessons included in your package, or will I need to seek out those texts additionally?

It looks like a great unit!

Hi Brenda,

I am not sure what to start with, I have just started homeschooling my just 9 year old daughter and we are doing our own curriculum. I would like to do Writing as a subject and finish with my daughter writing her own book and publishing it. I have no teaching experience and I would like to know what to purchase from your site first and work through? Is there a particular order of things? Also do you recommend how long each day and how often each week? Thank you so much!

Wow! You are taking on such a huge endeavor. I admire you! I think your best best is to look at this writing bundle: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Writing-Bundle-for-the-Common-Core-Opinion-Narrative-and-Informative-474313.

It includes all three main types of writing for the common core. You could really go in any order and the awesome part of working with only one child is that you can help her really dig into a topic and provide an authentic audience for her by sending her writing to companies and organizations (you'll be amazed at the letters she will get back...it's so motivating!) As for the time, I always aim to teach a writing mini lesson for about 15 minutes, provide at least 30 minutes for the student to write, and then 10 minutes to share and go over feedback. Of course, you know your child's abilities/motivations/limitations the best.

I would also recommend checking out other stores on TpT. While I am very proud of my work, there are so many talented teacher authors on this site and you might find other things you like better :)

I hope this helps! Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Brenda, I have been trying to do writing workshop in my classroom; however, I'm struggling since we only have a 30 minute block three days a week. The other two days I work on spelling. I aim for students to finish one piece a month and then I score them on a rubric. With your limited time, it might make sense to do a piece every six weeks? On the days with only 30 minutes, I would probably skip the mini lesson and get students right to the writing portion...just a few ideas. Good luck and remember, everyday they write, they improve and that is thanks to amazing teachers like you!

I think page 10 should clarify everything. Each task has its own number and page 10 shows what the bulletin board can look like. I appreciated the reply--I understand now why you made the text so small and I will ask next time if something is possible before leaving feedback. I can't see any way to undo the feedback if you are willing to change the font size. Some sellers I have dealt with in the past haven't been as friendly and were not willing to change errors/mistakes/Etc. Thanks again for considering the changes to the font size.

The only way to undo the feedback is to put in a ticket with the support team under the contact us button. I would never ask a buyer to that...it's completely up to your discretion.
