I have been teaching since 1993. Over the course of that time I have taught Math/Science Core at a middle school, World History to 7th graders, American History to 8th graders, Teen Issues, and math lab. After about 15 years at Hanshaw Middle School, I made the move to Enochs High School. I currently teach AP Psychology, Psychology 1 (11th and 12th grades) and 10th grade World History at Enochs High School in Modesto CA, and have been doing so for about 5 years.
Mostly direct instruction across the board, with tons of activities in my psych classes and lots and lots of whiteboard use in my World History classes. I used to use tons of technology at the Jr. High level since as a Title 1 school we had a lot of access to technology. I still use it when I can work it in.
Can't say I have ever been honored but I was featured in a district newsletter for my work with resource students. I have had people tell me for years that my curriculum was great and that I should sell it...well, here it is...as of 1/8/13, I have had $12.50 in sales so I guess they were right...:) Honeslty, I am usually suspicious of teachers of the year...
