Kathleen A. re: Word Chunks 1
These sheets look very well done, from what I can see of them. I wonder if you might consider consolidating them into smaller versions/more info per sheet. This takes into consideration the money spent on paper and ink to make multiple copies of each chunk for large classes. Right now that will stop me from purchasing; it just isn't practical in my teaching environment. Thank you for your work and for the consideration.

Hi Kathleen
Thanks for the feedback. We too are paper and ink conscious. We hope the directions make it clear that you print the bigger book in color just once and laminate it. This not only saves paper but makes it so that it can be read over and over again in the reading corner. Only the black and white versions get copied and they are a reduced size to make them perfect for little hands and save paper too. We have experimented with even smaller fonts but our young readers have trouble pointing to the individual words when the fonts get any smaller. So we feel these are perfect sized for students to read them to one another. Plus students are asked to write on their reproducible copy so we need to have the fonts be big enough to be developmentally appropriate for their level of letter formation. Young children write fairly large still. The descriptions do not state the page sizes but everything is done on 8.5 x 11. The student books contain several pages per sheet and are not as large as the teacher color copy that is used for modeling. Check out our I Like School freebie to get a better idea of the sizes. Thanks again for asking. We appreciate the feedback.

Lorraine S. re: Kindergarten Common Core Writing: ABC's Bundle
I like you idea..but there is really no room for illustrations. Can you tell me the point of the alphabet letter and pictures. I find it confusing to use the paper and respond to a text since the pictures are distracting. I did not think all of this until i bought it. I like the rubrics on it I guess.

Hi
Thanks for asking. Yes these writing sheets are intended to support a letter of the week approach. So the word and picture prompt has been strategically placed on the page as a word bank for students to use as a visual prompt to support their writing. The intention is to allow for differentiation. Some children will use more developmental spelling and copy the keyword only and draw an illustration in the box. Whereas others will write multiple sentences. Having the keyword in the corner to copy helps even our most struggling writers feel success. The keyword and picture are also a visual prompt to cue students to stay on topic. We like to do the fiction page on one day during the letter week and stress writing about the keyword character including setting and plot. Then later in the week we talk about writing a non-fiction fact story using the same keyword prompt. This gives us the opportunity to compare the elements of fiction and non fiction for every letter week. For some of my more capable writers I sometimes supply construction paper too that they can glue their stories to and then they have additional space for more detailed illustrations. Our students love to do this letter of the week writing routinely and we have seen much growth in their writing throughout the year. When they see the paper and look at the keyword and picture prompt they are quickly ready to stay on topic and eager to find out if they are doing fiction or nonfiction writing! Thanks for asking. We appreciate your feedback.

Do you have an April sight word bundle? I have purchased every month September thru May, but I can't find an April bundle to buy. I really LOVE your sight word bundles and they have been invaluable. I can't thank you enough for these. I'm really hoping you have an April bundle, too. Thanks so much, Heather Ulrich ~ Kindergarten teacher at Baku International School in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Thanks so much for your feedback. We are so glad you like these. Our kids love this routine too and ask us everyday if they can make a book. Yes we do have an April pack but are currently updating it. It should be available by the end of this month. In the meantime, you might want to check out our A-Z Phonics Bundle. It follows the same routine as the sight word books but focuses on letters instead. There are 2 books for each letter. Also we have 2 color word units and a life science science pack that all follow this routine that you like. Feel free to send us your email and we can let you know when our April Pack is available. Thanks again!

Hi Thanks for your interest in our sight word games. Currently we only have our sight word games available as seasonal roll and reads. Our words come from the reading street units. We should have the Turkey Roll and Read ready soon. Are there certain words you need? If you become a follower of our shop I think you will get a notification when we upload our new products. Thanks for asking. Have a great weekend.
