I have been a Reading Intervention Specialist for a Title I school Southern Calfornia since 2005. I work with grades K-5, helping students who are struggling to learn to read. Before that I was a classroom teacher for 7 years. I've been a Mentor Teacher and have also been an Adjunct Prof. at California Baptist University.
Research-driven, fast paced, creative, fun, and effecient. I don't like wasted time and therefore I always search for ways to "kill two birds with one stone". I firmly believe in the benefits of direct instruction. I also firmly believe that all children need to express themselves through music/art/dance... We can inspire children though our enthusiastic attitude and positive classroom environment. But that also has to be backed up with the best research-based teaching strategies.
The best award I ever received says "World's Best Mommy" I was chosen to be a National Board Certified Teacher in Reading Language Arts. I have also been a featured and guest speaker at various conferences including California Reading Association, CABE, and Effective Schools Conferences. I have also been asked to give staff developments and all-day trainings on Effective Vocabulary Instruction. I have also been honored by Riverside Community College for mentoring their Americorp volunteers.

I am married to a fabulous, supporting husband and we have 3 wonderful children. In my spare time I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my family, reading a good classic novel, and interpreting for the deaf at my church.
