I have nine years of full-time teaching and special programs' coordinating experience. These nine years followed several years of substitute teaching; I am the atypical person who actually LOVES to substitute teach! My teaching locales were Texas and Kentucky. I currently hold a valid Texas teaching certificate and a "momentarily expired" Kentucky certificate. My myriad experience includes banking, aviation, modeling, secretarial science, writing, and agriculture. I have also worked with foreign exchange students and volunteered with benevolent organizations.
My teaching style is usually very kinesthetic and visual, although I use tactics to reach all the various learning styles. Creativity and humor in instruction are my credos.
Student-nominated two consecutive years for Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Who's Who Among America's College Students, Pi Sigma Alpha Honorary Political Science Fraternity in College, Dean's List and President's Honor Roll in College, Nominated for Walt Disney World's Creative Teacher Competition. However, my own personal shining moment came when I was informed that parents were upset that I had resigned my previous position, and subsequently voiced their opinions at the local School Board Meeting.
Original B.A. was in Pre-Law (Political Science and Speech); obtained my teaching certification in Waco, Texas, and later obtained a Kentucky teaching certification as well.
My background is extensive in various areas, largely due to my hyperactive nature. I have passed my written private pilot's license exams and have logged numerous flight hours; I have won ribbons in collegiate horse shows; I am conversationally fluent in Spanish. My husband I currently care for my 85 year old mother, who has impending Alzheimer's; my 15 year old daughter (and I) survived severe ADHD/ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder), which has diminished with age. She is now a 3.8 GPA sophomore on an Honor's level. My small patch of property/ranchette is home to over thirty varieties of poultry, sixteen equines, several rabbits, a cat, and my Mom's human dog.
