I love the scrabble idea!! It's a great way to incorporate math and language arts. However, I do think that it would be more useful to have a section where they select consonants and vowels as opposed to the texting language activity.

The packet we purchased doesn't have a label for "Research" or "References". So I tried to make them in word. I can't figure out the exact font and size..do you happen to know this?

Hello! If you go to the Science section on my page you can see the word template we use. It is not for the labels, but it's what my kids use to type up their information. I'm not sure about the size of labels because I sized some of them down to fit on one line, but the fonts are Patterns and Dots, Top Secret, and Paper Maiche. I hope this helps!

Wow, Christina, tough question! I don't know that there's a book that focuses specifically on character ed. But I love "My Name is Jorge on Both Sides of the River." It's an oldie but a goodie. You might find some of the themes you're looking for in there. I'm typically looking for poetry that deals with identity development and culture for my class usually. I look to poets like Juan Felipe Herrera and Jorge Argueta. I hope that helps!!! Good luck with your search!

Here's what I did. I left the Spanish on the file still, but I reduced the price. Even if you won't be using the Spanish pages with your class, you might have a colleague who could use them. I also think its very helpful for parents who speak Spanish to have access to some materials to support their children at home. I hope that works for you!

This product is a modified STAAR writing rubric. It's written in kid-friendly language. Each of my students has this rubric attached to their writing mini-offices. I use it every time I grade a composition. This file contains both a narrative and an expository rubric based directly on the state-issued rubrics (that are not written in kid-friendly language). The file also contains pages to print that you tape together for a poster size rubric to put up in class. Let me know if you have any other questions!
