I began my career in 1998 working as a high school student volunteer then substitute. When I graduated in 1999 I was employed to work with severely disabled children. I worked with them (and thoroughly LOVED it) until 2006 when I began teaching. I have taught kindergarten for 5 years. I had a break in service at 3 years and stayed home with my 2 sons (then 7 and 1)homeschooling my oldest for his 2nd grade year.
I would have to say my style of teaching is kinesthetic. I like for my students to hear, see, and do. That's how I learn best and I have found that using a lot of hands-on and having the kids re-teach helps them retain what I have taught them.
I have been featured in two of the local newspapers for the snack pack program I began at my school and Teacher of the Year (2013) @ Middleton-Burney Elementary in Crescent City, FL.
I have a BA in Elementary Ed. with Exceptional Ed.and ESOL endorsements and I'm currently working towards my Master's in School Counseling.
I am the founder of Mighty Bees Snack Packs at my school. Our program's start date was January 31, 2012. Each week students in need of food for the weekend receive bags/snack packs that volunteers and I have packed for them. By the end of the year, there were 119 students and currently there are 147 students receiving bags of food on Fridays. I love what I do!! www.theinspiringteacher.blogspot.com
