Many of the items are so light they don't print, bus pg.7, butterflies and sea animals pg. 17. Graph on pg. 14 doesn't have enough spaces for 6. I'm too busy to fix things I've paid for and I probably won't use this again.

The morning work does not follow a math program but common core standards. There isn't a math curriculum yet that meets CCSS so when I teach I pull from a variety of programs that I've used over the past 18 years.

#9. In the sentence- "The elf has a star on it's hat," there should not be an apostrophe in the its word. It's with an apostrophe is the contraction. You might want to fix that. Thanks again for the great freebie.

I teach kindergarten at a charter school that really pushes the kiddos. Scholars are used to completing morning work daily on their own-- addition, subtraction, cvc words, rhyming, etc. Do you think this is something that they can do on their own in January- they will have completed 5 months of schools (we started August 3rd)? We are switching to Common Core standards next year but have been transitioning to them for 3 yrs. now. I have been modifying my previous morning work packets to meet the new standards. My ideas come from the CCSS and 18 yrs of teaching as well as feedback from my 5 teammates over the past 3 years.
Each month the work gets a little more difficult but is still practice for the students, meaning they should be able to do every month's work independently {except for the first month where they are barely reading and need more explanation for the first few weeks}. The research states that kids need to spend 20% of their time learning and 80% practicing and solidifying their skills so this work should be practice.
My district uses Everyday Math which covers a lot of math skills but does not have depth. I supplement a lot with Math Recovery activities so the morning work does have a lot of number sense work in them.

I got the words from a variety of lists-zeno, dolch, fry but I use my knowledge of leveled texts and intro to words to create my documents. In addition, it correlates with my district's K-3 sight word list; although in a different order. It is not from a basal; I've never used one and neither does my school district.

I had a question regarding the "Magical Memories- End of Year Memory Book". I found this book after searching on google and came across your blog. I saw that you had included pictures in the book. Did you do that after you printed the book-- then just glued them in. Or did you put the pictures in the pages before you printed the book. Just wondering how I could add pictures to the template that I downloaded.

I have the kids glue them in and laminate the books before binding. It's too much work to make 24 books individually at the end of the year. I hope this helps. I could send you the word doc for your grade but then you would lose the fonts.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching for 18 years and absolutely A - D - O - R - E it! I've taught special ed (3,4,5 then K-5) in an inner city school, K, 1, 2, 1st/2nd multiage and Literacy Specialist in 3 states - NY, NJ and Colorado. One of my favorite jobs was teaching children with autism through Early Intervention in NY and NJ. I have been married 18 years to my husband, Tom. We have two beautiful children, Emily, 13, and Nicholas,11. We suffered with infertility for 6 long years. After much work, money and tears our daughter Emily was born. We had Nick 20 months later. Nick is autistic and we are always evolving to keep our family happy. I made the decision to sell my products to pay for Nick's therapies and start a special needs trust for him when he is an adult so it is not our daughter's responsibility as well as to pay for medical bills for my daughter's recent hospital stay. http://ilove1stgrade.blogspot.com/
MY TEACHING STYLE
The key for me is to follow my students and differentiate. I love learning about each child's interests, especially if it is a topic I do not know a lot about. I always learn as much as my students, if not more. Teaching new concepts {or old ones in novel ways} revives my love of education!
