Hey Charly, I love this idea and have tried it before. I have a few questions as I was not successful the first time I tried. 1. What were some of the things the kids spent their money on during the nine weeks. 2. Do you have a list of the dollar amounts you charged for various disciplines? 3. What happens when the kids go in the negative? Any further suggestions you have I would love to know. Thank you, Michelle

Students spent money on things like pencils, pens, erasers etc. (If they forgot, I would let them 'purchase' a new one) Also, I utilized passes (on another download) and students LOVED those. There are many other ones that you can do, but I used those and they were perfect. I did not have students in the negative last year because I gave them money every week, but it because very hard to keep up with. This year, if students are 'negative' I am going to leave it that way. They might loose privileges in class if they are negative. Not sure yet. Also, I changed the discipline amounts throughout they year. At first, it might cost $3 for no supplies, but by the 3rd 6 weeks it may be $5 and so on. It depends on your classes. I was charging $20 for no homework by the end of the year. :) hehe! Also, I only held a 'store' at the end of the 6 weeks, so they weren't bugging me all the time to 'buy' stuff. They know that its coming, so they get excited. After the first one, they'll understand. I made a board with sample items that they could buy and displayed it! Hope this helps a little. It is really trial and error, but it worked great for discipline. I use real checkbook registers, and during a lesson or activity if a student was misbehaving I'd say, "Ok, bring me your register." And they'd get really quiet and bring it to me so I could deduct. I always brought these to parent/teacher conferences as a record as well! :)

If you could send me your documents (I LOVE the animal prints and Facebook!!) by: file menu--export--Word, or if you could send it as a PDF that would work too!

Thanks for being so creative!

I can send the Facebook file but I will not be able to send the others. They are too large to Email. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. What is your email address?

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 6th and 7th grade mathematics. I have also been a contract tutor at a middle school for students who have struggled with math.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is very hands on. I love to play games, get students out of their chair, and give them a fun way to make connections.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended Sam Houston State University and have a degree in 4-8th grade Mathematics. Go Bearkats!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I love teaching, but other than that, my passion is orphan ministry. I travel to Russia a few times a year to work in orphanages with the sweet children there. I have fallen in love with them. I am hoping that I can use some of my earnings on Teachers Pay Teachers to fund my trips! :)
