Thanks so much for the positive feedback, kprussell! I'm really glad to hear your kids are enjoying my material! Besides the Code Talkers, I don't have anything else in the pipeline for either world war (although I really would like to do something on WW1 soon). I do have something on Prohibition that I think you'd like. I haven't looked at it in a few months so I'll take a look this week and see if I can polish it up and put it online. If you haven't already done so, become my "Follower" so that you are notified when I post it. I'd like to start charging a small fee for these but my plan is to post them for free for a week or so so that anyone on my Follower list has an opportunity to download them before I put a price tag on them a week later. Again, thanks for the positive feedback. If you have any other suggestions or areas that you'd like material on, feel free to email me directly as well at the email included at the end of each of the warm-ups.

My kids really enjoyed this. It was a nice, get-you-thinking activity to use with our reading of A Long Way From Chicago. I love activities like this that aren't worksheets and really spark a student's interest. Much more effective than any writing or research assignment I could have given them. In fact, I think this may spur some of them on to research more about this time period.

Hey Andrea, thanks for the comment on the Hobo Markings - glad it was helpful. Yeah, I agree with you that it is much more effective to spark a kid's interest than to just give them something to do. I'm always amazed at warm-ups that don't seem to get students excited about the class. As you can probably tell from the rest of my warm-ups, I like starting class with something that will make kids want to be there. I'm currently working on a warm-up on the Navajo code-talkers of WW2 but am having trouble trying to shrink it to the an appropriate size. Eventually I'd like to have a whole series of these on historical codes and code-breaking. Anyway, thanks again for the comment!
