The Southern Ocean was "discovered" in 2001 (or 2000) as scientists realized that the ocean around Antarctica was itself separate from the Atlantic/Pacific/Indian Ocean...it actually forms a current that is circular and as I explained to my students, is like a "fence" around the continent! It was also designated a separate ocean due to the ocean life, year round temperatures and climate. :) Hope that helps!

Okay, I may have just sent you a message that was not complete! On the history review, for "People have the ____ customs and traditions in our state." is the correct answer a) same? I just looked it over and the answer SHOULD be different, but it's written with "the" which makes more sense (grammatically) to be same...sorry about that! If you want to just scratch out "the" for now (not sure how that got by me - must have been thinking true/false) I will change the original and re-upload (so you can redownload it again at no expense) as soon as I can!

Not quite sure why that's happening...have you tried redownloading it? I tried to download the version tonight, but our internet (at home) is limited, and it was taking way too long to download. I will check it again tomorrow at school (where we have faster Internet).

30 cards total are in the pack, but there are two recording sheets: 1-20 and 1-30. I have 21 students this year, so if everyone is there the day I play it, I usually have a "take a break" seat...just sit and relax until we SCOOT. The kids seem to enjoy that :)

Sorry! SCOOT is an active game kids can play that make a great review.
Before you play the actual game with cards, its best if they practice. Set a pattern for your students so they know which is the "next" desk to scoot to. I usually tell my more responsible students where to go and the rest follow whoever is in "front" of them.
Basically, the students go from seat to seat (they usually scoot to the seat next to them) and have a set amount of time to read and answer the card at that seat. They then write their answer on the answer sheet. When you call "SCOOT!" the students move to the next desk. They cannot move until you say the word (I usually have them turn the card over when they finish with the question).
I usually try to set up the same pattern for each game/subject we play. I read somewhere that its best to practice the kids scooting first (with no cards), and they were right! I had to practice for the first game we did last spring, and never had to do a practice session again. The kids really like it and it gets your wiggly ones time to, well, wiggle!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I am in my 15th year of teaching elementary school in a rural county. Before then, I taught an exploratory class, as well as an at-risk writing class for middle school.
MY TEACHING STYLE
I like for my students to be engaged learners, so we use a lot of manipulatives and simulations, when possible! I often teach students with learning difficulties, as well as attentional issues, so often my products are geared towards those students! I am also a mother to a child with ADHD/anxiety, so I feel that adds more understanding on where my students are coming from!
