I have been teaching for twelve years. My educational background includes a B.A. in Political Science (Bates College, 1993), a Juris Doctor (Rutgers Law School, 2000) and a Masters Degree in Secondary Social Studies (CUNY, 2005). I teach at MLK - High School for Law Advocacy and Community Justice. I have also taught in South Korea. I teach Global History I-IV, AP World History, US History and Participation in Government. I was a New York City Common Core Fellow, 2012-2013. I am a member of the TLP Lead Teacher Program run by NYC, 2013-2-14.
My belief is that all children can be taught history and their role as citizens. I believe that Social Studies is a wonderful medium to teach students critical thinking skills. My lessons are skills based with a heavy emphasis on primary sources. Most units and lessons are Common Core aligned. I have been fortunate to travel and wherever possible I always show students my pictures from these trips. To that end I am including my Pinterest link so that anyone who is interested can use the images that I have taken. The link is http://www.pinterest.com/ctf5/
