Buyer
I've purchased the unit, but expected to see more actual materials for tests and/or quizzes as well as activities such as the mock trial. Instead it is a unit plan. Sorry I didn't understand, but I think the price was a bit steep for what was included. Thank you.

Hello, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I would be willing to add more activities with the unit if you think that is what more folks are looking for now. When I originally completed the unit the Common Core was very new. At this point most people are conversant in the standards are looking for other materials. I will review what is included in the unit and add more based on your recommendation. When I do that you will of course receive the new material. Thank you very much for your support and suggestions.

Hello,

The unit could be shortened (if your curriculum schedule does not permit a lot of time) to three days, but it could safely be a solid week with more time given to cultural highlights (art and architecture). I have recently enjoyed spending time on the geography, trade networks and incredible cultural diffusion of that region.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for twelve years. My educational background includes a B.A. in Political Science (Bates College, 1993), a Juris Doctor (Rutgers Law School, 2000) and a Masters Degree in Secondary Social Studies (CUNY, 2005). I teach at MLK - High School for Law Advocacy and Community Justice. I have also taught in South Korea. I teach Global History I-IV, AP World History, US History and Participation in Government. I was a New York City Common Core Fellow, 2012-2013. I am a member of the TLP Lead Teacher Program run by NYC, 2013-2-14.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My belief is that all children can be taught history and their role as citizens. I believe that Social Studies is a wonderful medium to teach students critical thinking skills. My lessons are skills based with a heavy emphasis on primary sources. Most units and lessons are Common Core aligned. I have been fortunate to travel and wherever possible I always show students my pictures from these trips. To that end I am including my Pinterest link so that anyone who is interested can use the images that I have taken. The link is http://www.pinterest.com/ctf5/
