I have been teaching for ten years. My educational background includes a B.A. in Political Science (Bates College, 1993), a Juris Doctor (Rutgers Law School, 2000) and a Masters Degree in Secondary Social Studies (CUNY, 2005). I teach at MLK - High School for Law Advocacy and Community Justice. I have also taught in South Korea. I teach Global History I-IV and AP World History. I am currently a New York City Common Core Fellow, 2012-2013.
My belief is that all children can be taught history and their role as citizens. I believe that social studies is a wonderful medium to teach students critical thought and analytical skills. My lessons are skills based with a heavy emphasis on primary sources. I also think it is important to use multi-disciplinary techniques to engage all students.
