This powerpoint has been of great help to me in teaching my media literacy class. I hope you don't mind that I simplified it for my students, who have learning difficulties - they would not understand all the concepts. Very thorough - and more than useful for my "Teaching Trailers" unit!

Hi there. Thanks for the feedback. It should fit in OK with the teaching of persuasive techniques since trailers try to persuade us to view a film by using a variety of persuasive devices. I'm not sure how you approached it as I lack the details and find it hard to offer suggestions at this point. What connections were you trying to make? I presume you would've started with the viewing of a trailer or two to generate some discussion as a lead in? Perhaps it might be better for a slightly older group? Anyway good luck and let me know how you go!

Thank you for your purchase, feedback and rating. It is very easy to work in the idea of parody within that unit since it is very much implicit in the notion of satire in terms of mockery, sending up, mimicking or poking fun at something. It's hard to look at one without the other, especially in relation to a film like Hitchhiker. Also, it is wise to click on ask a question to ask the seller if you're not certain. I'm sure you can do a lot of worthwhile work with this unit.

The essay example was a little too advanced for my alternative high school sophomore students. The way you broke it down was nice. It would work best for a class doing "The Great Gatsby," though.

Thanks for your purchase and feedback. I suppose the Gatsby essay example could be replaced by any other example that would be more suitable for your students. I only used that as a model anyway. If an entire essay is difficult for students then they could focus on individual paragraphs such as how to write an introduction or one body paragraph and gradually build it up over time. As long as they initially get an idea of how to structure a novel essay then that's helpful for preparing them for what they have to do later.
