There were multiple typos in each passage and the font is hard to read. Also, the questions and inferences weren't that thoughtful. There wasn't a preview of this product. If there was I certainly wouldn't have bought it. I'm very disappointed. I wasted $2.00 because I can't use any of this for my students.

You will need one of the books listed. I read the book not showing the pictures. The students infer why the animals shouldn't wear the clothing. Example: a porcupine shouldn't wear clothes... (stop for kids to infer) then read and show picture. The pages in the product are for the students to write their own version of the book. Students choose an animal, make an illustration, and write a sentence to mimic the book on why their animal shouldn't wear clothing. The 'Don't' page is for the sentence, the blank page is for the illustration. The 'Can You Infer?' page is to place over their illustration so other students can practice making inferences (I put mine on a bulletin board). I hope this helps!!

Great idea! I was looking online for some sort of activity to teach theme and you are the only one I could find that had something! Bought it and I'm excited to have my kids use it next week. Is there anyway I could get a copy of this with a different font though? With some of the letters capital, some lower case, and some with a star, it might be difficult for some of my students to read easily. Thanks for your help!

There isn't a specific common core standard on making inferences for 2nd grade - BUT it IS an "Anchor Standard" from the Common Core for all grades K-5. Here's a quote from the Common Core Website. "The K–5 standards on the following pages define what students should understand and be able to do by the end of each grade. They correspond to the College and Career Readiness (CCR) anchor standards below by number. The CCR and grade-specific standards are necessary complements—the former providing broad standards, the latter providing additional specificity—that together define the skills and understandings that all students must demonstrate."

1. Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I am currently in my 5th year of teaching. I'm a looping teacher and I love every bit of it!

It's hard to define my teaching style. I use a lot of different methods to make sure all of my different types of learners are being addressed.

I have yet to receive any honors or awards. I have been awarded many grants in which I have written :)
MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY
I received a bachelors in elementary education from Ball State University in Indiana as well as a masters in Reading Specialist at Ball State.

As of right now, I live with my husband and my 3 lovely animals. I'm very excited about my life and love what I do :)
