Going through the pages, I foresee myself using many of the ideas of this unit. I plan on teaching The House on Mango Street to my 7th grade students. Some activities seem to be a bit young, but wiht some added expectations, they are certainly useful!

Hello, I purchase the Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nihm on May 7th. I love it and can't wait to use it in the fall. I'm getting ready for the fall before I leave school for the summer. There's a typo on p. 27 vocab and spelling page of Mrs Frisby packet. It has the answers bolded and underlined like an answer key on the student work page. I tried fixing it in the pdf and converting to text to fix. When I converted it to text it looked changed the look of it completely. Can you help by fixing it and emailing me the update? Or can you send me a word document and I can fix it there? Thanks :)

For example, is the page with chapter 8 material only used for chapter 8. I ask because I have found that my students are able to focus on the content more easily if they do so one chapter at a time. I have come across several items that said they were "chapter by chapter" guides, but we actually bi-chapter questions or groups of chapters together. I can't tell what you have done based on the example of pages provided--they don't show very clearly.

I am sorry that it took me a few days to answer, but we had a death in the family this week. Anyway, basically the unit will take however many days your class takes to read the book and whether or not your class reads every day or not. It is hard to tell because I create units for many, many books, not all of which I have used in my classroom. What I can tell you, though, is that there are activities for nearly every chapter of the book and more than one activity for some chapters. It just depends on whether you decide to use all of them or only some of them. If your class reads every day then I would guess that it would take approximately 3 weeks give or take. I hope this helps. =)

There is a vocabulary activity in which students choose words from the book that they are unfamiliar with and figure out their meanings through context clues, but no, the chapters do not include vocabulary lists.

It is hard to say. It all depends on how long you want to take to read the book. There are activities for nearly every chapter. In my classroom, we spend about one or two days a week reading a novel and completing activities so it takes me about 6-8 weeks to complete a novel. Reading every day, I would assume it would last about 3 to 4 weeks.

For that unit, they are all on antonyms and synonyms. The unit consists of 36 short 5-minute mini lessons to do daily for 6 weeks or once a week for the whole year. I have other units on other concepts to be used on the other days of the week if you choose to do one a week for the whole year. =)

I will admit that they do not have vocabulary words. I am sorry but they also do not have Powerpoint or SmartBoard lessons. Unfortunately, in my district only a few teachers have Smartboards so I would not know how to create them. I am not sure quite what you mean. It includes instructional pages explaining each topic (singular, plural, common, proper, possessive, abstract, and concrete nouns) with practice lessons to go along with each. It also includes a review assignment and a final test. I hope this answers your question! =)

No, but that is because I have the students help with the creating of the chapter quizzes and tests. Therefore, it does include activities for the students to assist with creating chapter quizzes and tests by having them write one multiple choice question per chapter. Then you, the teacher, would choose the best student generated questions to create a quiz or a test.

I have to confess, no it does not. However, that is because I prefer to have my students create quiz and test questions while they read the book. Then I choose the best ones to compile into chapter quizzes and unit tests. The unit does include activity pages for them to do this. Also, I am spending my summer adding new activities to my units and I have just finished adding to this one. It has gone from a 21 page unit to a 50 page unit at the same price. (However, I will be raising the price a couple of dollars by the end of the summer).

No. The mini lessons cover 5 topics: comma usage, parts of speech, run-ons and fragments, subjects and predicates, and the use of homonyms. I designed them to use as daily bellringers to reinforce basic skills. There will eventually be more volumes...probably this summer.

No, I am sorry but I do not have units for any of the novels that you mentioned at this time. I am always looking for ideas for new units so I may create those in the future. (I am busy right now because my school begins this Tuesday). However, I do have a generic unit that was designed to be used with ANY novel. =)
No, I am sorry but I do not have units for any of the novels that you mentioned at this time. I am always looking for ideas for new units so I may create those in the future. (I am busy right now because my school begins this Tuesday). However, I do have a generic unit that was designed to be used with ANY novel. =)

Hello. I am a fourth and fifth grade teacher looking for writing and grammar materials. I came across this website yesterday and I would appreciate any advice you could offer regarding teachers pay teachers. I am interested in purchasing some of your materials. Once I add the items to my cart and then pay will I recieve the items immediately or do they come through the mail? I am also very interested in the novel units you offer. I wonder if you might have a unit on The Tiger Rising, Tuck Everlasing, The Orphan of Ellis Island, or The Hobbit. Thank you for your assistance.

Thank you so much for getting back with me. I am also new to this service. I ordered 4 units Loser, Maniac Magee, Wringer, and Novel unit for any book. When I ordered I was not able to download anythig. Like I said the charges have hit my account although still pending. I will contact the bank first thing in the morning. I have contacted the company via email I cannot find a number anywhere. I want to make sure you also recieve your money. The number after the charge is 917-664-7288. Is this the company number? I dont mind spending the money on your products (I think they are GREAT) I just want to get my moneys worth. You know how it is on a techers pay. Stacy Walters

Hmmm...I am not sure what happened because my account is not showing the order either. I just recently joined this site and I have only had 3 orders from 3 different people, totaling $14.00. The way the site works is, when someone purchases a unit or lesson, the company that owns the site collects the money, takes their commission, and then sends me a check only 4 times per year. Therefore, if it has somehow charged you more than once, then you would need to collect from them. However, if your order went through then you should have been able to download the units immediately. Were you able to download them? If you were unable to download them then I would be happy to email them to you, while you are trying to get evrything worked out with the website owners. However, like I said, as far as the payment for them goes, it is not showing up. You may want to contact your bank and see what they can find out for you since the order is not showing up on this site. I wish that I could do more to help you, but all I do is upload the units to this site and they handle the rest. I am happy that you are interested in my units.

Hi Cynthia I hate to bother you. My name is Stacy Walters and I ordered four of your Lit Units. I was having problems with my card (just moved) and the website kept saying it could not process my card. When I looked at my bank statement the order hit my account 4 times. I also used my credit card that might have went through also. The money is still pending in my account but I wanted you to be aware.
