After many years of academic preparation, I began teaching English in the public schools of both Nassau and Duval counties in the state of Florida. I am pleased to report that I have taught many aspects of English from Literature of Pop music, Mass Media, Patterns of Language, to American and British Literature; the grade levels varied.
Teaching as I know it is an art, which incorporates a multiplicity of strategies for helping students comprehend, learn, and develop both oral and written communication. During the course of my teaching, I have progressed from a lecture method to a cooperative learning process in which I involve my students with whole class activities, and then proceed to small-group sessions. This method maximizes student involvement and comprehension.
Principal's Award for outstanding and valuable service
I am a native of Jacksonville, Florida. I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Language Arts and a Master's Degree in Education. Before I began teaching in the public schools, I worked in a private school in Hialeah, Florida as a teacher, where I had the dubious distinction of working with a class of ten male students. All ten students were labeled hyperactive, so it was not only my responsibility to teach them various core subjects but to observe their behavior and write weekly reports on their behavior for the psychologists.
