I have just completed my tenth year teaching high school! I have taught Algebra I and II, Geometry, Tech Math I and II, Discrete Math, Pre-calculus and AP Calculus AB. I have been heavily involved with my district's transition to the Common Core Math Standards. I also tutor in students' homes.
I try to create an atmosphere of trust and honesty. While I assert my authority as a content expert in the classroom, I don't try to pretend I'm perfect. I reward my students for catching me making a mistake and defending themselves if I challenge them on it, and I designate a bulletin board in my room for the free expression of my students. I take my subject more seriously than I take myself, and enliven class with humor.
