Buyer re: Computer Teacher Lesson Planner
Hi, I have to plan for K-8....will that work in this planner?
March 4, 2014 Report inappropriate comment
Computer Teacher Solutions
I also teach K-8 and find this works well for me. This planner consists of a year of weekly pages (Mon-Fri) with 8 periods per day. You can see this in one of the images on the product page. Hope this helps!

Looking at your other buyers' comments, they had the same issue but then you provided them with a password which is the only thing I can find that will allow me to unlock it. May I have that please?
February 24, 2014 Report inappropriate comment
Computer Teacher Solutions
If you can send me your email, I will give it to you. However, this is to unlock the protection of the file, so you can make changes to it. It is not the same as "enable edit." You have to enable editing first, then if you want to make changes to this document, it will ask you for a password. I must warn you that if you unlock the document and give it to your students without locking it again, they may have trouble with the text boxes moving along with many other issues. Protecting a document this way keeps things in place.

I'm working with a Mac. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I don't see "enable editing" anywhere. However, in preferences, I have the option to "unprotect document" but it needs a password.

As mentioned in my product listing on TPT, my typing program is for use in MS Word. I created it on a PC. I know very little about Macs, but I assume you have MS Word for Mac? If not, I am not sure what to recommend.

Here is a link on Microsoft site about their software for Macs:

I paid for and downloaded the typing practice documents so that I could upload them to Edmodo for my students to practice using their typing, however, when they download the file, it says it's locked for editing. Can you please fix this, otherwise it is useless to me.
February 24, 2014 Report inappropriate comment
Computer Teacher Solutions
This document is created for MS Word. If you open it in Word, it will give you the option to "Enable Editing" at the top of the screen. Then you can save it and upload it to Edmodo.

Buyer re: Animal Alphabet Typing Activity for Grades K-3
Hi! I purchased this, but I really want my students to be able to put their name on it so we can print them. We don't print very often, but when we do they get very excited! Is there some way to add a spot for a student name?
February 10, 2014 Report inappropriate comment
Computer Teacher Solutions
I agree and have added a place for students to type there name in the last box of the alphabet table. You should be able to download it again with the revised file. Please let me know if you have any problems, and I will email it to you. Enjoy!

I am truly interested in learning more so if you don't want to sell to everyone, maybe you would sell to me for a learning experience! Thanks!!!

Thank you again for the compliment. A lot of what I have learned has come from training and self study. I worked for companies like Crayola and owned my own publishing and design business. A lot of my products are created through the experience gained from years of learning and working with design and the past 10 years of teaching computer skills and learning what kids like. I am appreciative of your request to learn, but I don't think I would be able to put a quick how-to course together. I can say a lot of what I did was learned just by research and doing and having a creative eye for design. You can learn a great deal, if you have the time, by taking tutorials provided with your software (or online) on how to create forms and reading up on and practicing some basic graphic design. It's fun if you are into it!

Buyer re: Computer Class Grading Rubric & Grade Sheet
Yes I did buy it...thanks much. I am wondering do you use a new record sheet every day or do you keep track of multiple dates on one sheet. How does that work for you? I really like the behavior section of it and how easily I can do this with different tasks. Just wondering if I need to fill out a new sheet every day for each class that I have.
November 7, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
Computer Teacher Solutions
Yes, I use a new sheet every time I grade. I just complete each student's section as I grade their rubric. I give them the rubric and keep the classroom sheet as my hard copy. Then when I enter my online grades it is so much easier to have all in one place.

Hi! I love your activities! I have a question about how I can make a few changes to some of them though. For example, for the latest Thanksgiving activities for 3rd-5th grades, I have very limited clipart for my students. I would like to give them directions on how to insert a picture from a file instead, but you have it locked and it requires a password. Is that something you can provide me with? I have several of your activities that I use, but need to be tweaked for use in my lab. My email is: Corine_Knodel@bemidji.k12.mn.us Thanks!!!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I was using a graphic in place of a font for the title. I have changed it, and you should be notified that a new file has been uploaded. You should be able to download it without charge. Please let me know if you have any trouble. Also, can you tell me what version of MS Word you are using? I created it in 2010. Thanks again!

I think it may be your 2007 version. Do you have the compatibility pack installed? Below is Microsoft's info and link:

Install this compatibility pack if you would like to open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations that were created in the newer versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Scroll down to see instructions and system requirements.

I will be waiting with curiosity to see if it works for you!

Fire Safety Lesson:

I tried to look at the permissions for this file but it goes not show up.

I looked at the title bar and it said student file - read only. I then saved it to another location with a new name. The read only is gone now; however I am still not able to drag the objects and place them over top of the fire truck. When I select the object I get the pick up handles and I get the 4 directional arrow when I left click on it. It looks like it is dragging when I move the mouse. When I drop it off nothing is there.

The text box at the top is working great for the students to type the words in.

I downloaded the file from TPT just to make sure it opened and worked properly. I am not having any trouble in Word 2010 or 2013. What version of Word are you using?

Also, if you can give me your email, I will send you another file in case something was corrupted in yours.

I had my student try the fire safety lesson. When you click and drag the shapes up to the picture of the fire truck; are they supposed to stay up there? Even when I try to do the activity, I can't make the shapes stay. I click, drag the shape, let go and it disappears. I thought I had mastered the skill but I guess not. Please let me know if I am doing it wrong.

I think I may know what is happening for you. When you open the document, look at the top of the screen. You should see a prompt that says "Enable Editing." Microsoft displays this safety feature in it's products for files that are downloaded from the Internet to protect the user from viruses. Please let me know if this helps or does not help. I want to make sure this issue is solved for you! Thank you.

No, this activity provides websites links for students to find the info they need. They then just type that information into a form that has already been designed in a Word file.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Currently teach the following in a parochial school: Computer Science: Grades PK-8; Religion: Grade 7; School & Community Mediation

MY TEACHING STYLE

I place great importance in maintaining a low stress environment for kids. This includes assuring them that they have the time they need each class, patiently repeating instructions for them if needed, and encouraging them to ask questions. I also encourage students to help each other. I like to be organized and find that poor lesson planning is usually a recipe for disaster--not just for students, but for me as well. I always feel happier, more confident, and satisfied with my job when I teach well. Good lesson planning provides this, and students reap the rewards :)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

B.S. Mental Health & Human Services; Certification: Community Mediation & Conflict Resolution; Educational Technician III/Paraprofessional; Self-Employment Experience: Owned and operated a design and publishing business.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Currently teach computer skills and personal safety skill classes to elementary and middle school students. I have taught 7th grade religion. I also provide mental health services such as conflict resolution, mediation, and individual student support.
