Hi! Yesterday, May 28, 2014, I purchased your Tantalizing Tessellations Back to School Review product. Page 6 is not centered.....the page with the pieces for younger students. It's partly off the page. Has anyone else mentioned this to you? I'd like those pieces but if I print it, I don't get the whole thing.

Any advice/suggestions?

Thank you!

COOL Algebra (TpT Seller)

Hello! So sorry for the trouble. I've looked at the file and the part of the picture needed was very close to the edge but not off. The picture has 4 white corners that do hang off though. My thought is that your Word program is a better version than mine and "fixed" the picture by straightening it up. I have uploaded another file where I pulled the picture farther from the edge - I hope this fixes it. If not, it is a Word file and can be modified anyway you like so you can enlarge, rotate, copy or shrink the picture as much as you need. Please let me know if this works. I can send you a picture file if you need me to. THANKS.

Ms T. re: Tantalizing TESSELLATIONS (Back to School or Review)

I just bought it and it looks great! I'm just wondering, what did you have the kids do with it for your 9/11 project?

Thanks!!

Thanks!!

COOL Algebra (TpT Seller)

HELLO!

When I used the tessellation for the 9/11, it was like a remembrance quilt. If I'm remembering correctly, each piece was a reflection - a drawing of something they saw, a list or drawing of their feelings, and some memorial to the victims. The last time I used it for this topic the students had actual memories of that day. The kids I have today would not be able to draw on their own memories. I would suggest they interview an adult in their life about what it was like and maybe how life has changed since 9/11/01. I hope this helps!

Mariel Stein (TpT Seller) re: Are You Ready for Some FOOTBALL? (Middle School MATH Project)

Hey thanks so much your answer was very helpful! Do you by any chance have an example of a daily plan you used with this lesson? The resources are great I'm just a little lost on how to implement this on a day-to-day basis.

I'm definitely going to use it!!!

I'm definitely going to use it!!!

COOL Algebra (TpT Seller)

I don't have a daily plan to share. Once I introduce the project, the kids kinda take over. I give limited amounts of time in class to complete it, but I listen to the students interactions or questions because I may need to re-teach a concept during bellwork. I always have several examples to show the students and that helps.

Mariel Stein (TpT Seller) re: Are You Ready for Some FOOTBALL? (Middle School MATH Project)

Hey I just downloaded your project and it looks SO COOL! I teach all boys for math and they're obsessed with football but so bored with math so I'm INCREDIBLY EXCITED to use this in my classroom! I have a few questions though.

1) The project addresses multiple standards in math - while I have taught a good portion of these standards, there are some that I haven't. Do I need to explicitly teach these standards before starting the project?

2) How long should I block out for this project? How much time per day and how much time overall? My math block is 1.5-2 hours (depending on the day) and I have two months left in the school year so I'm trying to long-term plan now.

Thank you for this great project!!!

Mariel

COOL Algebra (TpT Seller)

VERY COOL!!

1) Sometimes I teach the concepts before the project, and sometimes I teach a concept then add a layer to the project. I like both ways. If I want the students to be more independent, I teach before then introduce the entire project. I've had a lot of success doing it in layers though- it tends to slow down the students, but the overall project is usually better.

2) When I first introduce the project it takes a while to show examples and talk about how to make up a team, budgeting, etc. I teach 50 minute periods so the introduction takes at least that long. After the kids get the jist of the project, I allow about 20-30 minutes for several days. Sometimes it takes a week sometimes two. I teach a wide range of students with varying abilities - it's different every year. One thing remains the same - the kids (especially boys) get SUPER excited about it and talk about it all year! I had a group of ELL students ask to do soccer last year and all the kids thought it was cool.

THANKS and ENJOY!

Hello! I've re-uploaded the word file. I can change it to a pdf and send it to you directly if this doesn't work. I used the word file so that the document may be revised to fit your needs. Please let me know if this doesn't fix it. THANKS so much!!

Buyer re: MATH BASKETBALL: Standardized Test Review for 8th Grade Pre-Algebra

I purchased your math basketball review powerpoint but am unable to successfully download it to my computer. I own Microsoft Office 2010, so the format of the file should not be a problem. Any ideas so that I can make use of the file I purchased?

COOL Algebra (TpT Seller)

Oh no!!! I'll look into the problem. You're the first to encounter an issue that I know of. I will let you know what I find out! I do not use office 2010, but as you indicated this shouldn't be a problem. I'll try and upload again to be sure. THANKS! (I'm with students all day so it may take a little time - sorry!)

I use this with my 7th and 8th grade math students. It touches on basic ideas, but it really is a fun way to introduce the stock market to kids that have no prior information. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Buyer re: "Lollipop" STATISTICS

Hi, I needa lesson on data statistics and anaylsis.I was wondering if you could tell me if this would be of good use.

COOL Algebra (TpT Seller)

This lesson is more about the collection of data than the analysis. The students create a frequency table then use the collected data to create a histogram. If you are looking for more analysis, it would have to be added. I hope this helps.

Buyer re: Unit Prices in the Real World: "Let's Go Shopping!"

I see that you are an engineer-turned-educator - so am I! I started following you yesterday!
