It turned out to be a great interactive learning center for my second graders and I hope your students benefit from the activities as well! I just edited the files on tpt -- I included learning center objectives, interactive qualities, descriptions, etc. on the last two pages for the teacher's reference. I also noticed one of the pdf pages looked different than my version, so I fixed it (text overlapped). Thanks for downloading!

I was reading your instructions on this activity, and it seems great! However, I was wondering if you had ideas on how to make it just for one-on-one? I like the idea of it a lot!

Hi Brooke,
I know it is a bit past the Easter season, but perhaps your 1st grader won't mind hunting for eggs! The kids really enjoyed the egg hunt, however if you need more of a one-on-one drill I would suggest pre-teaching the vowel rule, giving some examples, and using this as independent practice or as an informal assessment to see if they can appropriately decode the word. If you are confined to a table of some sort and cannot hide the eggs, simply put the eggs in a basket and have the student crack them one at a time and read them to you. S/He can them sort them on the digraph mats after reading the word correctly. Hmm...let me know if you need more help! I used this in conjunction with Orton-Gillingham as the primary intervention with my first graders (this was last year).
