I've been teaching at my current position as a Language Arts & Journalism teacher of the gifted middle school students for 15 years. Prior to this post, I taught at a private elementary school, as a substitute at all subjects and grades for 5 years, and spent one year abroad in China teaching E.S.O.L.
I'd characterize my teaching style as taking on an interactive approach to teaching literature and language arts skills. My class involves many projects, presentations, discussions, and literary as well as life lessons.
I was nominated and elected as Teacher of the Year for my school in 2004-2005. That year, I was also selected as a Region Finalist for Teacher of the Year in Miami-Dade, FL (the 4th largest school district in the US). I achieved National Board Professional Teaching Certification in 2007 for Early Adolescent Language Arts. My students have achieved numerous local and state awards for their writing.
