Hi Todd!

I am sorry my description didn't help much. Here is a better description for you!

In my fourth grade class the goal is to have the students write a four paragraph essay. They are expected to have a thesis, topic and concluding sentences, and supporting details. This unit was created by my team to get the students there.

The generating lessons are for pre writing so students can think of a topic to write about. It includes lessons and organizers like generating ideas from the real world, personal problems etc.. There is about 5 generating mini lessons.

Next, after a topic is determined, there is a focus on thesis statements. How to develop them, organize them in writing, and expanding on details..

Finally, after drafting is complete, the next focus is elaborating using a quote, anecdote, or a narrative.

Also included is rubrics, and an editing checklist..
