These comics are adorable and will work great in my 6th grade grammar lessons. However, I was just looking over the pages that I downloaded and noticed that page 8, the first page on adjectives, is blurry. All of the rest of the pages look totally crisp, which makes me think that it's not a simple fix, like I need to update adobe or something. I printed it out and compared it with the other pages, and it still looks blurry when compared with the other pages.

I would think so, although each part of speech is dealt with in a two page comic. So there's nothing terribly in depth there. There are really designed to supplement a lesson, not stand on their own.

Mr. Rickert, I loved using the "Run-on Sentences" comics. I did notice a small typo on page 11. It says ". . .Your job is to make reading as clear and effortless and possible. . ." Of course, you meant "as possible," but it is a typo. Thought you would like to know.

Will you be adding more parts of speech comics. I would love to see correlative and coordinating conjunctions as well as pronouns (antecedent, demonstrative, plural, first person etc). My kids continue to have difficulty with these parts of speech. We love your comics on nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. Thanks for making grammar fun again.

A comic for each of the parts of speech. The sample of the verbs one gives you a good indication of what the rest are like. They are designed so that each one fits on to one sheet for distribution to your students - all, that is, except for the verbs one which is on three pages. Too much to write about!
I did not include any activities because I designed it to be a supplement to grammar instruction, not as a replacement. There are plenty of grammar resources out there, I figured.

My materials are aimed at middle school and high school audiences--therefore I am searching for someone who is interested in creating some cartoon images of adolescents/teens writing, reading, using the computer, cooperative learning scene (sitting around a table), interviewing scene (holding a mic???), planting a school garden---these would be images only --that I would use on my products to make them SUPER attractive and engaging for the buyer and user. I think this is a great idea and one I've pondered for some time. Right now I'm a little too busy to give my all to it, and I have to figure out the logistics of offering a set that people can use digitally as a file - I don't know it I can do that on TpT. I know that many of the images in my comics would work well for this purpose already - I know because I've done it - and it wouldn't be a problem to do a few more once I'm done with the two projects I'm working on currently. What I'd like to do when the time comes is have you feed me ideas and I'll give them to you for free as I build up a library of clip art that I can sell as a set. Sound good?

It does not - at least not right now. I always envisioned at a supplement to grammar books and lessons that teachers were currently using rather thanks a stand alone product. If I ever get the chance to revise them, I will do that. You may want to check out Mark Pennington's Teaching Grammar and Mechanics which is available here and contains some of my work as well.

I am actually working on some reading skills materials with another teacher, although those are more geared toward learning to read rather than increasing fluency and all of that. Those won't be out for a year or so, though. In the meantime I'm working on Grammar Comics Vol. 3 as well, which deals with common sentence errors.

I teach 9th grade English, and my students are always struggling with euphemisms and allusions. We study them all year, but especially with To Kill a Mockingbird. One thing I have done for allusions is to google popular songs that are about Superman and get the lyrics. Most of those songs don't make any sense unless you know the character. There's that Five For Fighting song and one by the Spin Doctors. Probably a few others. If you google "Clark Kent poems" by Lucille Clifton you'll find some stuff there.

Sure! The grammar comics are available are one set (called Grammar Comics! full version) and separately as Grammar Comics! vol. 1 and 2. If you have the full version you have everything on 1 and 2. If you only have vol 1 or 2, you need to get the other one. I have them up both way in case someone bought one volume and needed the other one later on. There are also two sets of vocabulary comics as well. Thanks!

Hello, David, You asked for feedback on the 'Roots and Affixes' download. I love the cartoon format, but, unfortunately, these cartoons would be a little too 'childish' for my 16-18 year olds with learning difficulties - great for a younger age group, though. Your 'Grammar' cartoons have gone down well with my students - they seemed aimed at a slightly older group. Great stuff!

Mr. David,
I love the comic strips to help the children. I teach in a innercity school in Louisiana and it is tough to get these kids to enjoy reading and not to yawn continuously during a poetry lesson. Do you have any poetry comics for fourth grade? We are responsible for our state test in 4th and are real close to becoming a school of choice, meaning the children can go to a school of their choice instead of ours. I am originally a Texas teacher and learning is so much different in Lousiana. Do you have anything for comprehension? Thanks you have made my day.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I spent the first three years of my career teaching language arts to seventh graders. Since then (for the past eight years) I have mainly been teaching Freshman English and AP English.
