I read with interest the comments left on these materials, expecting something fabulous that I could use the next day with Freak the Mighty. Although it is a free item, I feel that it is only fair to give an accurate evaluation. I was sorely disappointed in this dowload. Basically, the reading questions were good, but to call this an 85 page study guide is just silly. There are 60 pages of white space! The "standards-based activities" are just questions about materials that should be covered in the standards. But the materials offer no instruction, just questioning. In other words, the students are really just asked to answer questions about what they already know.... Grading these materials would be tedious and totally time-consuming. In addition, there is no answer key.

I teach this novel over the summer and have a unit I developed. This is a great supplement to that unit! Thanks David. IF you need any other creative activites to go along with this, just e-mail me at ecalli@nhart.org and I can give them to you free just as you did me!

This is an excellent packet of lesson ideas. Not only does it cover a wide range of standard concepts, the quizes include higher level Blooms questions!
