Nobody does art lessons better! The step-by-step directions, tons of color photos, including plenty showing student outcomes, and differentiation by grade level make it so fun to use these.Have done 2 Deep Space lessons with my third graders, and hope to do some of these before the year ends! There isn't a page missing...but I can understand what you mean. I included the small drawing visuals as a drawing reference (last page). I assumed that the bird drawing was more straight forward than the other two, so I didn't include written instructions. Perhaps I should have! Thanks for pointing this out. I'll consider changing it.

I like simple supplies as well...liquid tempera paint (blue, yellow and red), old kitchen sponges, white drawing paper, scissors and an oil pastel. Colored paper for the background if you have it. Have fun!

IrvinAcademy re: Easy Clay Art Projects
Hi, We are a homeschool family and I would love to do clay with my kids. I obviously don't have a kiln. Are there places that will fire things for you, I know you are in a different state, but in general. Are there maybe alternatives that will give the same effect. That was one of my most favorite things that I did when I was in elementary school. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Love all your work.

Instead of ceramics (which is fired clay) try air dry clay (Crayola has one). It doesn't have the same feel as ceramics but it gives the child the feel of working with clay.
Also, check your local ceramic artists to see if they offer kiln usage in their studios. Also, there may be some city or museum sponsored art programs that offer ceramic classes.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching art for the past nine years and founded the art lesson blog Deep Space Sparkle in 2009 with the hopes of providing dynamic art lessons for school teachers. My blog is an extension of what I do in the art room: painting, drawing and sharing my love of art.
MY TEACHING STYLE
Children and art are a natural combination. I strive to balance direct line instruction, observation techniques and free expression to produce art lesson that every child can use to be successful. I use basic materials and teach techniques that are age appropriate and grade specific. I save my best lessons for my ebooks and provide detailed photo-tutorials taken in the classroom. Art teachers around the world have used my ebooks when developing their art curriculums.
