I have nineteen years of experience at four different schools. Currently I work at a school in Johns Creek, GA, which is a Fulton County School.
My heart is in kindergarten and I try to make learning as fun as I can. I believe there is a place for worksheets, but I don't believe all learners do best with them so I try to use a variety of activities instead. I believe in differentiation, but I also believe that it is a tremendous amount of work. After having four different leveled groups in language arts this year, I find myself always looking for ways to make differentiaion easier. Therefore, I have tried to make several things that incorporate choices in my center activities so that buyers will be able to make one set of materials and just use different recording sheets.
I'm kind of like the bridesmaid who stands up in everyone's wedding... the one who's still single... I've been nominated for Teacher of the Year several times, have been a finalist several times, but I have not been crowned the title yet. Maybe someday... It doesn't really matter to me, though, I am going to do my best for the children no matter what. However that front row parking spot would nice!
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University, and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Central Michigan University. The latter I received from a satelite program here in Georgia.
I spend most of my free time doing school stuff. Other activities I might do are go shoe shopping, watch TV, or go to the movies. When there are occasions to do so, I make and decorate cakes.
