Hi! I am a Kindergarten teacher here in Texas. I have a question for you. Does your school use CSCOPE for curriculum? If so, how long? Our district just rolled it out for us to begin using it. I love it, but many of my colleagues are overwhelmed and do not like it at all. Did anyone on your faculty have the same problems? Can you tell me how your school overcame the issues? Of course these questions are assuming you do use it. I really appreciate any help you can give me.

Hi Angela. Unfortunately (or fortunately) we don't use it. We have many frustrated teachers too, but for different reasons ;) sorry can't be of more help.

Hi, I am interested in your book Clifford the Big Red Dog. I am in the process of learning to read and i love the pictures that this book has to offer. I tried to check it out from my librarian friend but she refuses to check it out to me. WIll reading this book enhance my reading and picture skill set?

This would probably be more of a "guided" reading book rather than an "independent" reading choice for someone learning how to read. The level is almost 2nd grade, though the interest would be from kinder-2nd. I agree the pictures are lovely, but I would suggest starting with another title. You write beautifully though for a non-reader! :)

Hi there. In Texas it covers several in social studies. Express ideas (about culture). Compare ethnic and/or cultural traditions in Texas, the United States, and other nations. Compare ways in which people in the local community and communities around the world meet their needs.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I began my teaching career in 1998. During my 10 years of classroom teaching experience, I have worked with students from kindergarten to 5th grade. I am excited to begin this new fork in my career. I am currently working as a Library Media Specialist. Now, EVERYONE is my student. I love inspiring students to appreciate literature and the love of reading. Hopefully, this will be my legacy to them.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in a simple recipe for student success. Show a personal interest in every student, motivate students to learn with engaging lessons, and remember that students will not rise to low expectations.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Published twice in "Who's Who Among American Teachers".

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received my Bachelor's degree in teaching from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. I received my Masters in Library Science degree from Texas Woman's University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

In addition to my love of reading, I enjoy crafting. You might even say that I'm a craftaholic! You can check out some of my creations at http://www.etsy.com/shop/purpledaffodils.
