I have been teaching for over 35 years. I am currently working as a teacher/librarian. In the past I have used my cut and paste art projects to improve my students cutting skills, and problem solving abilities as well as enhance my units of study. I also enjoy the way my room looks when my bulletin boards are decorated with children's artwork, especially cut and paste art projects. I find that even though the basic pattern is the same each child's work is uniquely their own. Currently I use my cut and paste art projects to decorate my library and compliment the stories I am reading to my students. Over the years I have taught preschool through 8th grade and I have found that all ages enjoy sitting down and completing a cut and paste art project.
I have loved completing cut and paste art projects since I was a child. In fact my favorite class in college was "kiddie art". As a teacher, I feel that it is important for today's classroom to put more emphasis on developing a child's spatial and fine motor skills as well as their creativity. In my previous classrooms we decorated the walls with my students cut and paste art projects, each one taking on its own individual character. We also drew lots of maps in addition to writing numerous stories and poems as well as solving math problems suited to the ability of the students. Currently as a teacher/librarian I utilize my cut and paste art projects to decorate my library and supplement my stories with activities that I feel my students will enjoy.
For the past two summers I have been asked to be a workshop presenter at the International Picture Book Conference at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.
I graduated from Hillsdale College in 1975 with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education.
I am married with four children, two girls and two boys and one son-in-law. My children are 32, 29, 26, and 24 years old.
