I read your comment on your September calendar about not getting as much work done on these as you had wanted over the summer. I had the same goal, but you are way ahead of me now! I really appreciated your information about the font downloads. Unfortunately because I am using my school networked computer, I was unable to get those. I had to adjust much of the font, but it was still a lot better than starting from scratch! You have included so many activities and videos I am hooked for next year! Will you be updating these or should I go ahead and purchase them now and make the updates myself?

I was actually just thinking about that! Since a lot of schools get out in June, and if your school is anything like mine it is filled with special days and activities, so I didn't want to create an entire calendar file, but I've been thinking about adding a June calendar page (or 2) to the May packet, (and an August one to the September packet) so be sure to check back towards the end of the month for a "revised product" with the new pages! Thanks for thinking ahead!

Hmm... I just opened the file and didn't have any issues...I would try re-downloading the file, as well as making sure you have the latest version of ActivInspire (on the top menu, go to help- check for updates) Download and install if necessary.
Also if you click on a cloud on that page, it will open an internet browser for a song via YouTube. Just go back to the now minimized ActivInspire at the bottom on the screen and click on it to re-open/maximize it.
If none of those work, I will try re-uploading the file.
Other than that, I don't know what would be causing the issue!

I've never actually timed it... I usually set up the experiment sometime in the morning and we check back later in the day. BUT... I did a little experiment on my kitchen counter. In about a half hour, you will see a noticeable difference to the one in the soda. The longer you let it sit, the darker it will get, so it really depends how dramatic you want the results to be!

Apparently I went a little font happy! I added one more font to the list of downloads on the first page (after installing it, you will need to re-start Active Inspire for them to work) as well as fixed several of the other pages so they are now "pictures" instead of text boxes, which should solve the problem. I uploaded these changes so you will have to re-download it. If this doesn't work, let me know and I will see what else I can do!

I just bought this fun file. I wonder if you were able to fit the labels for the Gingerbread man on the actual picture... They seem to be too big. Is there a way you can make them smaller so they will fit, or make the gingerbread man bigger with bigger blank boxes??

Hi! The one that is in the original packet is meant to print on 11X17 paper. I uploaded a newer version that also has two 8.5X11 versions of the gingerbread man (black and white at bottom), as well as a smaller version of the labels to fit the smaller paper. Let me know if this solves the problem. If not, I will see what else I can do!

I am so sorry about that! I have no idea why that happens! One of my other flip-charts started randomly defaulting to the 911 song mid month! I have fixed the problem, so please download the revised version. If it happens again, let me know so I can redo the links. Sure! Go to: Insert (when you bring up the file/edit/etc menu): Link: website and then copy and paste the website link into the box that pops up.
Then it gives you a choice if you want the link to appear as text, image icon, action icon, or existing object. I use the camera feature to take a picture of the song (or you can use clip art) and select "existing object", and the object I want it attached to. This was when you click on the picture, it takes you to that link!

Promethean Board files only work on a Promethean Board, using the ActiveInspire program. They will not work on a SMART board.

I'm not going to create a new one, just update the ones that I currently have to reflect the 2012-2013 calendar. This way if you previously purchased it, you can just download the revised file and don't have to buy a new one each year. I hope to have those revised sometime this month (July).

Each month builds upon the previous, and adds an additional line. September is just their name. Then October is "I am...". November adds on, so it is "I am..., I can..." until there are 9 sentences for them to write/complete in June. Hope this makes sense!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

MY TEACHING STYLE
I believe that children learn best by doing and interacting not only with each other, but through a variety of hands on learning experiences. Students are expected to follow the rules and routines, and are taught how to help and guide one another, not "tell" others the answers or what to do. Respect and acceptance are key. We spend a large portion of our day working in hands on differentiated centers/stations. Almost all large group activities take place together on the carpet, further building a sense of community and acceptance. I enjoy making learning fun, giving students choices and involving them in as many ways as possible! You will not find me in the front of the room, teaching to "the tables". In fact, when other staff members come in the room they can't find me as I am sitting on the floor or a table with a student while the rest of the class carries on!
HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT
Once you get past college, it's harder to earn honors and awards! I was extremely honored to be nominated for (and won!) the Herb Kohl Award, which recognizes the top 100 teachers in the state of Wisconsin- 25 in elementary, 25 in middle school, 25 in high school, and 25 in "special" areas. When the local paper came to observe my classroom, and interview both myself and some of my kindergarten students, one of the questions they asked my class was if they liked reading or math better. My students responded that we didn't do math (apparently it never clicked that MATH stations was doing math...) and we just play all sorts of games! Well, at least I succeeded in making learning fun! (and no, the paper didn't print that quote and I am still employed!)
