I'm so sorry you are having trouble. As I stated in the description, this is a SMARTBoard file. I'm not sure about the compatibility of Smart Notebook with Mimio Boards. We don't have any Mimio Boards in my district. Were you able to open and interact with the preview file?

Another wonderful set of files! I love the undersea theme, and the new addition of comparing decimals. Such a wonderful tool for the classroom...my kids are doing wonderfully in math-thanks to this calendar! Any chance set 8 will be up soon? :)

What version of Smart Notebook do you have? I use Notebook 11. If you have an earlier version, maybe try updating it. Also, which version of the calendar are you using? The first one I created had many layers of graphics and people had issues with it freezing, especially the first page. I revised it with less layers and it seems to work better for most. So, if you haven't tried the revised file, try that. Please let me know how you make out.

Great calendar! My students all want to be calendar helper just so they can guide us through the slides. The tooth tally is a big hit with the kiddos. I love the incorporation of math skills throughout the calendar.

It was created with Notebook 11, but should run on Notebook 10 as well. Let me know, and we'll go from there.

I'm also having trouble opening it. I have a Promethan and I can usually open Smart Board files but for some reason it isn't translating well. I just tried exporting the file to PowerPoint. Unfortunately, all the interactivity was lost, as well as the formatting of the text.
There are two other options I can think of to try. The first is to try opening the file using Smart Notebook Express, which is a free online way for people without notebook software to use Notebook files. It is supposed to let you view and interact with Smart Notebook files on any interactive white board. What I don't know, however, is whether all the interactivity will still be there. It's worth a shot, though! You can find it at http://smarttech.com/notebookexpress
If that doesn't work, the second option would be to download smart Notebook software for a free 30 day trial. That would at least allow you to use the file this year. Maybe you could then transfer elements into a Promethean file for future use.

I have had my SmartBoard for 2 years now. What I did right from the beginning, (even before I got my board), was to download Smart Notebook to my home computer. I spent a lot of time just playing around with the software. When I couldn't figure something out, I would "Google" it and there was always a video tutorial somewhere that explained how to do what I wanted to do. I don't think there was one specific site that I used, but I spent MANY hours reading, watching, and experimenting.
If you do not have the newest version of Smart Notebook, Notebook 11, I would recommend updating to it, as it has some features that make it easier to use.
I know it's hard to find the extra time to learn how to best use your SmartBoard during the school year, but summer is coming and usually it's not as hectic a time as the school year. Creating interactive files is all about ordering, grouping, and using the object animation tools in the properties menu. It is time-consuming, but I find it creatively rewading. It's like scrapbooking to me!
Good luck learning how to get more out of your SmartBoard. It is an amazing tool, and I can't imagine teaching without it! If you have a specific question or topic that I can help with, please let me know. I have recently started a teacher blog, and I am planning to include some SmartBoard tutorials there.

I just wanted to let you know some 'oops' I noticed when using this. On a lot of the days, there are no next buttons. On Day 91, we are rounding to the nearest 1,000 and the answer is 5,000 instead of 8,000. On day 100 (which was SO much fun!) the clock reads 6:21 while the answer is 12:12. On Day 102 you have two modes...2 sets of 5's and 2 sets of 4's (My kids got a little confused!) Thanks so much for all the hard work you put into these...I love them!!

This question is something that I have researched and can't find a clear-cut answer to, but from what I've read, I don't believe that it will. From what I understand, you may be able to open a Smart Notebook file with a Promethean Board, but the interactivity will be lost. You could try to download my freebie SMARTBoard Math calendar sample to see if it works on your Promethean. I use a lot of fade-out animation, which is also in this file, so you could see if it works.

I have a 3 Branches of Government product for teaching about the U.S. government. I also have an additional file about Maine state government that I've used with my students, but I didn't include that in the file because it would have limited appeal for the average buyer. I can post that as a separate file.
I have other things that I do with my class, such as a Maine Pocket Person project about famous Mainers, and a Maine birthday party that we do on Maine statehood day. I have not created TPT files for them yet, but I plan to. I understand if you want to wait until I have those actual products done before I am included in the boards. I will contact you again when the products are done.

First, thanks for purchasing my product! I'm sorry it is not working properly. I'm not sure why you are not seeing the circles. What exactly are you seeing on that page? Are the triangles arranged in a circle? Are they grouped? Colored? Labeled?
I'm also wondering which version of Smart Notebook you are using. I know this file works with both Notebook 10 and 11. I'm not sure about earlier versions. I wanted to let you know that I noticed a few 'oops' in Set 3. On day 52, either the clock or the answers are wrong. The clock reads 8:50 but the answer is 4:15. On day 59, it says hearts instead of stars -the answer is 2/6 instead of 4/6. On day 64, the fraction is 2/8, with 9 lines on the number line. (I assumed the number line started at 1 instead of 0).
I think your products are great and just wanted to let you know what I've noticed so you can update them if you need to. Thanks so much for creating these!!

It is not too late to start, but it may take you more time each day to complete calendar because your students will not be used to the routines yet. My students are in set 4 currently, so I would recommend starting with that rather than set 3. Are you planning on doing the Core Calendar as well, or just the Day Files?
I gave more detailed directions for how to use the Day Files in Sets 1 and 2. In the later sets, I only gave directions for new components, because I was assuming that people would already have the earlier sets. However, there are many people such as yourself who are starting at different times in the year, and with different sets, so I am going to revise the directions to include all components within each set.

I would do the Core Calendar and Set 1 for a week or 2 until your kids get used to the routine and then go on to Set 4, which is what I will be starting with my own class in a few days. While the Day files are named by the day, such as Day 68, Day 69, etc. they can be done at any time, as you use the actual calendar date for the Big Number component. There are 2 types of page templates. The first is for "Making Words" activities, such as in the Patricia Cunningham books. You preselect letters to use as you guide students through making a variety of smaller words. Ulitmately, all of the letters can be used to make a big word. The words can be sorted in a variety of ways, so I included a sorting page. There are lots of Making Words books out there complete lessons. You can also use this template for weekly spelling words, or on a holiday to see how many word students can make from a holiday name.
The cloned lines are to show kids where they should fill in the blanks with letter tiles if you are doing a customized word family page, such as the "ight" and "ack" pages in the preview file. The single line is for when there is just one letter to fill in. The double is for 2. Drag out either one or two lines, along with the letters for the word family. Group the lines and the letter tiles and then clone them as many times as you need them for that page.

From everything I've read, you can sometimes open a Smart Notebook file with Promethean software, but the interactivity will be lost. I don't know anyone with a Promethean Board to try it out, but it's not a good sign that you can't open the preview. Sorry...I wish the different types of interactive whiteboards had more compatible software.

I can't remember the exact day I updated, but it was around that date. The update did not have a change to the actual Smart Notebook calendar files. It was updated to include some optional printables to use for students to record things like prime/composite/square numbers, Today's Fraction/%/Decimal, and Big Number. If your zip file includes the printables, then you have the most updated one.
As to whether I have a Promethean version, I do not. I don't have that software, and Smart Notebook does not allow me to convert to Promethean. I've heard that if you have Promethean software, you can open Smart Notebook, but you may lose interactivity. That would not be a good thing for this file, as it is very interactive.

There is also a Core Calendar file, which gets saved every day, because we track prime, composite, and square numbers, along with the calendar date. Each Day File has 3 pages, (except for Set 1, which has 2, because it takes longer at the beginning of the year to get through calendar).
So far, I have uploaded Sets 1-6. I have some tweaking to do on the last 2 sets, but they will be up in plenty of time. Please let me know if you have any more questions. I am a firm believer in the benefits of doing math calendar. I think it is the single most powerful thing I do in math.

Sorry, I do not have a rubric for this assignment. Since it is our first major writing assignment of the year, I really monitor each step of the project, and model expectations. I check each paragraph of their rough draft as they go, and they make any necessary revisions or edits, so that by the time they get to their final copy, it basically guarantees a successful finished product for everyone.

I do not know what that means. I just went to my product listing and downloaded the preview and was able to open it with no problem. Do you have Smart Notebook software on your computer? I use the latest version, which is version 11, but even if you use version 10, it should still open. If you do not have Smart Notebook software, that is the problem.
I am going to ask some other sellers on the forums to try downloading the preview to see if anyone else has a problem. Please check back.
**UPDATE** I just heard back from another seller who was able to open the preview file, so it seems to be working okay. I'll be curious to hear from you as to which version of Smart Notebook you have.

Do you have Smart Notebook software? Have both the ball and the name been selected? (You should see two little triangles.) If only one of the items has been selected, no grouping option will show up. Because the ball is directly behind the name, it can sometimes be tricky to grab them both. Try holding down control and dragging the mouse across both the ball and name, being careful not to grab a second ball or name. Then you should have grouping as an option. Hope that helps!

I used Kristen ITC font, which I believe is standard on most computers. The font size ranges from 15-18 for the words and 24 for the numbers. Are you using the revised version of the file? That has a simpler first page than the original file did and has worked better for folks who had trouble with the days and months not moving smoothly. Is it just the first page that seems to have the big font or other pages too? Are you normally able to use Smart Notebook files with your Mimio Board and still maintain interactivity? I am not at all familiar with Mimio Boards or the software used to create the files, so I don't really know why that would happen.

Thank-you so much for your kind feedback! If I had the safari graphics, I might create an attendance file, but I don't have any. I mainly get my graphics from Thistlegirl Designs, where I am a member, and have a reseller's license. She has a safari set, but it is not part of the member graphics. Scrappin' Doodles has adorable graphics, but they do not allow them to be used commercially in SMARTBoard files. So, for now I don't have plans to create a safari-themed attendance file, but who knows in the future...

Actually, after a couple of other people had problems with the file, I uploaded a revised file that has the first page redone with less layers of graphics on the month, day, and year buttons. That seems to have solved the problem. Try downloading the revised file by going to the "My Purchases" tab. It is in a zipped file format, so you have to unzip it first, and extract the files. The new file has "rev" at the end of it. Please let me know if that works. If you still have an issue, e-mail me at mcgaffca@spsd.org

Sorry that you're confused. I'll try to explain. Every day is either an "A" Day or a "B" Day. The odd days are "A" days, while the even days are "B" days, so its 1a, 2b, 3a, 4b, etc. "A" Days have one set of concepts, while "B" Days have a different set of concepts. Sorry that you're confused. I'll try to explain. Every day is either an "A" Day or a "B" Day. The odd days are "A" days, while the even days are "B" days, so its 1a, 2b, 3a, 4b, etc. "A" Days have one set of concepts, while "B" Days have a different set of concepts. Along with Kim, I also am having trouble opening the document. I have a Promethean Board with Active Inspire and there is no program that recognizes the file.

I don't know if this file will work with your Promethean Board. As stated in the product description, it is written in Smart Notebook. From what I've read, you can sometimes import Smart Notebook files into Active Inspire, but the interactivity may be lost. Have you been able to use other Smart Notebook files on your Promethean Board in the past?
There is something called Smart Notebook Express that you can try downloading to see if the file will work with that. Here is the link.

I downloaded your grades 1-3 smart calendar math and I can't get it to work. I tried for half an hour to get anything to move. It was all pages not just the first one. Please help. I have smartboard 2011.

I am so sorry you are having trouble with the file. I have uploaded a new zip file which contains a revised version of the calendar with the first page being less graphics heavy. Please go to the "My Purchases" tab and you will be able to download the revised file and see if it works any better for you. I have not heard from anyone who has had trouble with any of the pages, other than a couple of people with page 1. Have you tried other Smart Notebook files to make sure your board is working properly? I know the ones in our building were disconnected from the computers over the summer, and some folks had connectivity issues when they returned to school. One more question...are you able to get the file to work on just the computer, without the SMARTBoard?

I downloaded your grades 1-3 smartboard calendar and it is adorable! However the file is way to big that it slows everything down! When I drag my calendar days and numbers they usually freeze and stop working. Is there anyway that I could be sent a few slides to fix the problem?

Is it just the first page that is giving you trouble? That same thing happened to a teacher at my school, and the graphics on that page looked like giant polka dots in the background, rather than tiny polka dots. It works fine on my computer...go figure. Anyway, I've redone the first page with just solid shapes for the days, months, and years, and it seems to be working fine for us now. If you give me your e-mail address, I will send a revised file to you. Please let me know if this solves your problem.

This is what I do for my PC, (but it might be different on a Mac if that's what you have.) Make sure you are in select mode, (the arrow with the thick point). First click on the outer border of the apple to select it. Then hold down "control" and then click on the apple to select it. Once both are selected and you see two little triangles, you can let go of control, click on either of the little triangles to open the drop-down menu, and choose grouping-group. Repeat for the others.
If this doesn't work for you, maybe you can let me know exactly which part you are having trouble with. We'll figure it out!

It was written with Smart Notebook software. From what I've read, when Smart Notebook files are imported into ActiveInspire, you may lose the interactivity. I don't know anyone with a Promethean board, so I can't say for sure. Try downloading one of my free Smart Board files, such as the Soccer Attendance or the Tooth Tally, and see if they work. If you get a chance, let me know what you find out so I can let others know.

The chart I inserted into my file is a Flash file that is part of the Smart Notebook gallery. Perhaps they will be updating the gallery to reflect the Common Core. I don't know anyone with a Promethean Board, so I don't really know the answer to your question. From what I've read, you can import Smart Notebook files into Promethean, but you may lose the interactivity. Since the Tooth Tally is a freebie, download it and see what happens! If you have a chance, let me know if it works so that I will know what to tell others when they ask.

I have tried to find out the answer to that question on the web, but I can't seem to get a clear-cut answer. Some resources say you can, but the interactivity may be lost, which would definitely not be a good thing here, as these files are very interactive. I think there is the option within Promethean to import Notebook files. Try downloading the preview file. While the pages are only screenshots, I did put interactive page link buttons to go to the next page. See if those work with Promethean software. If that works, I can e-mail you a single interactive page to try to see if it works for you.

Hi Teri, Were you unable to download, or unable to open the file? It is in a zipped format, so you need an application such as winzip to unzip it, since it is 3 separate files: a Smart Notebook version, PowerPoint version, and Word version. TEACHING EXPERIENCE
This will be my 15th year teaching, but I began 33 years ago. I left the profession for 18 years to raise my children and did a variety of part-time jobs. This is my 7th year back, and I'm still on the learning curve! I currently teach 4th grade, which I think is the perfect grade for me. I love to integrate technology into my classroom with my SMARTBoard, and this year, I will be exploring best uses for iPads, as I received a grant to have 6 in my classroom. I'm hoping that curiosity keeps my brain cells young!
