This is a big (and diffiucult) unit for my first graders, I love love love your posters, but would the activities be too difficult? From the preview I think at this time of year they would work with a little guidance?
Love your things!!!!!

First of all...thank you so much for your kind words! It's always nice to know other teachers like my resources!! As far as this particular resource is concerned, I think it would be difficult for first graders. However, it would depend on their overall reading level. If most of your students are reading above the first grade reading level, it would work. Otherwise, it may be too much for them. I hope this helps!

I noticed that in your preview for the "Going Ape" activity that you have "Pealing" a banana. The correct spelling is "peeling." The activity looks great! I think if you are able to correct that minor thing, the product would be excellent!

Would you use this as your federal governement unit? or is this just an introduction?

It was my total federal, state and local government lessons for third grade. It covers the three branches of government found on federal and state levels, as well as how local government works. I would say it all depends on what your state standards are. I hope that is helpful.

Actually there is already a GREAT packet for guided reading for first graders written by Deanna Jump! I suggest you go to her store and check it out. She is an awesome creator of curriculum. I think you will be very happy with her guided reading packet!

Hi, I`m a superfan of your work and I was wondering if we could make our students write to each other during this year? I work in a bilingual school in the south of Brazil and this year I`m gonna teach fourth and fifth year students. What do you think?

I would LOVE to do that if I was still teaching, however I retired a couple of years ago. I only wish we could have gotten together when I was teaching, it would have been such a great opportunity! I do have friends who are still teaching, and might like to be pen pals with your class. If you are interested in having me contact them with your information just e-mail me at: tomandjanbernard@gmail.com and I'll get right on it!
Thanks so much for your kind words about my work. You really make my day!

Do you have these available for just the specific grade level the worksheets go with? Or just one bundle? Just curious:)

It's all one bundle. The reason I did it that way was to meet the various reading levels within any particular classroom. I know in my own classroom I often have four different reading levels. I wanted the resource to meet as many needs for a teacher as possible.
thanks for your question,

Are you going to be offering any more of A Unit About Goods and Services?

Dragons Den  (TpT Seller)
I wasn't going to offer another unit on goods and services, however I am planning on offering more units on economics such as opportunity cost, resources and the like. I can always add to the goods and services unit I have, what would you like to see included? In the summer I will be going through each of my resources and updating them as I see a need. I might be able to add whatever you need then. In that case, you would get a notice that I have updated the product, and you can download it again for free.
Thanks so much for your question. You can respond here on the question and answer page, or e-mail me at tomandjanbernard@gmail.com
Thanks so much,

callas444 re: A borrowing and Carrying Math Story Unit: Dragon Eggs
Hello there. Do you think this is appropriate as a very first introduction to regrouping with second graders? They are familiar with the basics of place value.

Hi back!! Thanks for your question!
It is a very good way to introduce second graders to carrying and borrowing. It makes the whole process very concrete. With older students who were confused with the process, I had to go back to the second grade "tens" to start to build understanding. In my opinion it is the perfect introduction, especially for second graders.
Thanks,
Jan

So this has nothing to do with products but I was reading your profile and saw that you did some of the Before the Store Books. I did some of those too - Footballs, Pencils, Bicycles, and Toilet Paper. Anyway, just wanted to say hi! Feel free to delete this question.

Actually it isn't a book. The cover of the lesson is something I made with the help of Jim Corcoran, an artist from Toledo, Ohio. It would be a good book though! Maybe Jim and I need to do something like that! We already worked together to make "The Great Pickle Panic" that is in my store, but we were looking for the next one. Thanks! I think you have given us something to work on! Jan

I saw your posting on the Sellers Forum page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. It is well done. You might consider offering just a couple of the activites as free and then mention on the last page that entire packet can be purchased. Many of us use that as a marketing strategy. Check out my freebies below to see what I mean.

Here are a few suggestions that might help you to better market your products. Consider adding a second page which is a directions or suggestions page. List several ways you use this product in your classroom. Never assume that a buyer knows how, why, or when to use your product. Use the footer to put the copyright symbol, your name and date of creation on EVERY page. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations.

If you have time, I’d appreciate your input on one of my freebies listed below.

I am now your 5th follower, and hope you will reciprocate at my store as well. http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/SciPi/Products

By the way, I am originally from Chillicothe, Ohio. Welcome to TPT, and good luck with selling!

Thank you so much for all the wonderful information! I really appreciate the time you took to give me input. I have been so busy making sure I didn't violate any copyright laws that I forgot about protecting my own! Thanks for helping with that. I will be happy to review your freebies and be a dedicated follower of your products as well. Again, thanks, Jan
